Episode 50: The Truth
As much as Chase hated to admit it, he had his aunt to thank for this.
The sole reason why Valentina had found her way over here to see him was because of her, regardless of the drastic measures she had taken to have that happen.
After devouring all the soup Valentina had made for him, her cooking never tasting better, he got himself dressed for work. Sadly, he didn't have any more days off to waste away in his sorrows. He had to jump straight back into his projects, especially the one pertaining to his best friend's wedding. He had to finalize his drafts and send queries to the retail department about how quickly they could make them into a reality.
Chase sprayed on the finishing touches of his cologne and made his way out after fondling with his shirt cuffs.
Honestly, he still felt like shit but after seeing his love after a period of devastation, that feeling was easily buried.
The man had a pep in his step as he went down the hallway.
He couldn't shake the feeling of hope he felt.
Ever since she left earlier, he had been mentally devising a plan for whichever ways would be fruitful in getting her back.
He knew it wasn't going to be easy—god, he actually hoped it wouldn't be because of how much he deserved to suffer after what he had put her through.
But the man still hoped it wouldn't take over the course of a month.
He didn't know what he would do if he couldn't have a heartfelt conversation with her for that long. The type that had her eyes crinkling at the sides like they did when she was happily engaged and her mouth curving up into a perfect shape that was so beautiful and so her.
That image of her—joyful and at ease within his company—was all he craved now.
It was number one above the ones which came with her eyes rolling back and teeth sinking into her bottom lip in sheer pleasure.
Chase blinked as the numbers of the elevator changed as they went higher and higher.
He had decided to stop by his aunt's suite which was—unsurprisingly—the penthouse.
Whether she was in or not was something he would find out when he got there because he hadn't had the time to inform her of his visit.
He just needed to let her know of his appreciation for getting Valentina here.
It had come back to him in the shower—the memories of last night.
But only in broken fragments.
He remembered, however, how he had begged her to bring Valentina back to him.
How she had pleaded with him at the bar, asking him with concern etched onto her face just what she could do for him.
"Bring her back to me. That's how you can help," he had besought, verbatim.
It was marginally embarrassing for her to have witnessed that side of him, but then he started to get rid of those thoughts.
Valentina's kind voice filled his head as his pride had made an appearance.
"You make it sound as if people are only supposed to see the good sides of each other...that's impossible."
He blinked thoughtfully as her words resonated deep within.
