The Heart of the matter

First day

Time skip to Meredith's intern year, shes 23- she skipped a few grades at school being overly intelligent and spending more time reading and studying in an hospital bed, rather than playing or partying.

Meredith was asleep in her room, she moved back in with Richard and adele after medical school to do her internship at Seattle grace where she knew her health would be supported while also being able to pursue her internship, she was nervous about starting and the interns hating her because of her being Richards daughter, on her 13th birthday Meredith had asked Richard and adele to fully adopt her, and decided to hyphenate her name, wanting to keep her mothers legacy, but she also knew being Meredith Grey-Webber could stir up a lot of issues, she knew her resident knew about her heart condition as shes met her a few times before, in Richards office, since bailey is one of his favourites, which is why Meredith is her intern. So at least she had bailey on her side. Her alarm went off at 4:50am....

"shit, shit shit" Meredith said at 5:10, having snoozed her alarm twice knowing shes going to have to rush to get ready. "hurry up Meredith your going to be late, and watch your language" Richard shouted from downstairs, he was taking Meredith into work, they had agreed it was better for Meredith to come out to the interns right out about Richard being her farther, instead of hiding it which may piss them off more. "coming" Meredith shouted back, she rushed to get dressed and dry shampoo and brush her hair before going downstairs to meet Richard, not realising she forgot to do one important thing, take her medication for her heart. With that they both rushed out the door and to Seattle Grace.

When Meredith arrived at the locker room she was met with quiet and different looks from the locker room members, it was either because she was very young, or because Richard is her dad or both. there was one intern who reminded her of bambi, looking at her awkwardly, a jackass looking guy staring at her like she was a piece of meat to take into bed, a Asian lady was looking at her with curiosity, probably wants to get in the chiefs good books by being nice to his daughter, but also a stone look to her face, she looked like shed be someone she could develop a friendship with, then there was the blonde who looked like a barbie, who she was sure she had seen on a trashy magazine in her hospital stays who was glaring at her with jealousy and looked like she wanted to choke her with fairy dust. Instead of initiating any conversation because of the mixed messages of the group she just headed straight to her locker, she wasn't feeling too great that morning either so didn't want to push it too much.

The blonde was the first one to speak "what no comment?", she asked Meredith just responded, "what do you want me to say?", the usual peppy blonde just scoffed, "if it isn't enough being ellis greys daughter, your also adopted by the chief and his wife who is on the hospital board, bet your probably slept with your med school teachers too to get here this young, you look twelve, like that will help with the respect thing" the others stood there in silence staring at Izzie, Meredith took a deep breath to calm herself before responding, "I got here based on how much effort I put into studying and my grades at school, hence why I skipped a-few years, my birth mother died when I was a couple of months old, so she isn't around to get me favours, the chief isn't going to give me special treatment and with that previous statement you've just disrespected him by suggesting he would do that, and adele webber being my mom isn't going to effect much, so get off your high horse, and concentrate on your own career and professional development rather than sticking your nose in mine" Meredith responded sharply, Cristina snickered at that and responded with "I like you already" and tapped her on the shoulder. Not long after no other than the natzi walked into the room, Grey-Webber, Yang, Stevens, Karev and omalley I'm your resident, and Dr Stevens if I ever hear you say anything like that to a colleague again, or here you talk about your chief in that way again who I respect greatly, you will be In a serious amount of trouble, do I make myself clear" she said giving her infamous pissed off Bailey look. "yes Dr Bailey" Izzie mumbled, bailey then gave the interns their assignments out, Izzie on rectals, cristina on cardio, alex on labs, George on scut and Meredith on neuro.....
