The Croods: Follow the light

Ch 2

That night the howls of various animals was heard throughout the land. The owl-cat is pacing infront of the entrance of the cave until it saw as light.

Eev woke up to the sounds outside she got up and jumped off waking Eep in the process. Eep watched as Eev went to the cave entr and peaked under the rock that blocks it. She saw a light and gasped and backed up surprised.

All of a sudden a bright light came infront of her and she jumped back. The light spread across the cave illuminating everything. Eep got up and joined Eev as they looked at the light. Eev reached up to touch it and brought her hands together to catch it, she opened her hands to find nothing there.

The light started moving around and Eep and Eev stsrted to chase after it. The light went ove to thinks face and Eep and Eev hovered over him. Eep opened his mouth looking for the light.

The light started to go and Eev went to the rock and layed down to use her feet to open it. It made a noise and they flinched to see that everyone is still asleep. The two snuck out the the small opening.

They kept their hands on the rock as they watched the light leave. With great hesitancy they slot slipped their hand from the rock.

They ran and jumped over rocks. They used branches off of fallen trees to vault foreward. The light was still getting further and the two desperately ran after it. The ran and jumped on walls before they finally got to what looked like a dead end.

Eep unfortunately stepped on a stick, the snapping of the stick echoed throughout the canyon. The light appeared on the wall where the shadow of an animal is seen.

Eev threw a rock to try and make it got away. The two saw the light above them and climbed up the walls. When they got there Eep growled threatening before they saw the light that they were looking for.

An Ember flew across Eev's face before it dimmed, as they got closer they saw that the whole area was surrounded by floating embers. Eep tried to catch one above her. Eev got closer to the flame, she reached to touch it and flared causing her to move back in surprise, not knowing that some creature was right behind them.

She hesitantly reached out to touch it again. But then, Eep grabbed her and moved her back as she took the creature behind them and threw it over her shoulder knocking over the flame in the process.

Eep picked up a rock to kill the creature when it all of a sudden put up two human hands up making Eep pause. The hands moved to hold the horns and pulled up to reveal a teen boy.

Eev came from behind and looked at the boy in wonder and she tilted her head, he put the skin down and copied her with a smile that made her heart slightly jump in her chest.

In surprise Eep dropped the rock on the boy's foot making him scream in surprise and pain. Eev rushes forward and puts her hand on his mouth to keep him quiet.

"Sh! We're not supposed to be out here." She said and she bit her hand. "Ow!" She said and retracted her hand.

"Air..." He wheezed.

"You talk?" She asked crouching down and getting in close.

"Y-yeah I'm a person like you." He said embarrassed by her sudden closeness. All of a sudden he's lifted of the ground by Eep.

"Sort of like you." He said and Eep starts sniffing him.

"Hey,hey,hey could you might not Ah!" He yelled as he's suddenly turned upside down. The girls start poking around making him laugh.

"That tickles." He said. Eep found something around his waist look back at her and she dropped him in panic making him scream in pain.

"Quiet, we're not supposed to be out here." Eep said as she slammed her foot on his face and he but her in retaliation. She swiped at him making him tumble away and ran after him.
