THE NEXT AFTERNOON, Nawal brought several garment bags from her own room, and gave each kid of hers their new clothes. The two boys eyed the bags in hesitation, while Luna and Maya sighed happily.

"I could get used to clothes like this." Luna whispered, staring enthusiastically at the inside of the bag, then turned to look at the cover from outside.

"Me too! Wait until we get to try them on."

"Mum, are you sure you want us with you? We can always stay here and watch the house or whatever." Rajwan questioned. Adam glanced at him and nodded in agreement.

"Yeah. What he said."

"Sweetie, of course I want you all with me! We should all go together and not worry about the house for once. There are all kind of security here."

The two brothers nodded in satisfaction, then went upstairs to change their clothes. Mal watched them go, then looked back at her mother, who gave her a reassuring smile.

"It's going to be fine, Mal. You're going to see your friends there, and you get to talk all night. I won't even stop you all."

Mal smirked at the words. "You're right."

They all went upstairs to change their clothes after that.

Mal hurried to her room, closed the door behind her, then set the garment bag on her bed, gently reaching inside to grab the clothes.

She first let out a black blazer, followed by a black t-shirt, a black skirt that reached just above her knees. She smiled, as she knew that her mother had good taste, then continued to flip through the bag again, finding a long silver chain, and a pair of Chanel earrings.

She turned the bag upside down, shaking it to see if there was anything else. A small white paper fell onto the soft mattress, making her stop and set the bag aside, picking it up to read it.

Wear that with your black boots, and get that small, black purse as well ! -mum

She smiled again, then ran to her closet, picking up the shoes her mother was referring to. They were knee-length sock boots with stiletto heels.

Her mother was right. Those boots would definitely fit with the chosen outfit. Now that she didn't worry about her outfit, her hair and makeup were left.

As soon as they were done, the family entered the car, settling in as Nawal turned on the engine.

"You kids ready?" she asked delightfully, turning to face her kids for a brief second.

They all nodded silently, giving her small, reassuring smiles. She nodded back, and then began to drive.

"Since most of the time I'm going to meet random, boring-ass people, you kids should go ahead and mingle. But remember- do not drink anything that has alcohol, do not speak with strangers, and do not leave the house. Understood?"

They all nodded bluntly, then while their mother pulled up, the got out of the car, meeting the sight of the Melrose Residence, which had a lot of sparkly and colourful lights.

Mal stepped towards the entrance, then stopped to wait for her family to catch up, suddenly feeling very intimidated by the huge mansion.

Here goes nothing.
