"Miss Moore, breakfast will be ready in fifteen minutes,"
I groan as the intercom interrupts me away from my sleep. I have been working on Kindle's situation for the past couple of days. Last night, I barely got any sleep. Turns out, her husband is in deep trouble.
I slide out of bed and stretch my arms out.
"Good morning,"
I crash into the wall as I scream my heart out. It takes me a moment to look around the room to see Elias sitting at my study table. My memory returns. We were both working on our own jobs together, and we must have fallen asleep.
"Can you not be so creepy next time? I could have died from a heart attack," I say walking over to the intercom. I press the button and say, "I'll be down soon,"
Elias waits until I take my finger off the button to speak, "It's not my fault you allowed me to fall asleep... in this hard-ass chair. God, my back," there is an audible popping sound as he stretches.
"You could have just went back to your room. I didn't ask you to stay here all night," I walk up to him and place a kiss on his cheeks. He breaks into a smile brighter than the early morning sun. This view of a tired, disheveled Elias. Wow.
"What's with the look, ma'am?" he asks.
"What look? I am not giving any look," I turn and walk to the bathroom, "See yourself out, please. I need to shower and get ready for work,"
He smirks, "Want to save water?"
"OUT!" I yell as I close the bathroom door holding my laugh.
I've decided to be more nonchalant with him and more trusting. After Liv's party, and after my realization, I catch myself constantly wanting to be around him all the time. It isn't until Carlos walks into the room or comes around that I remind myself not to make it so obvious. I treated Liv to a private dinner, where we talked about her engagement and my "relationship" with Elias. She was more than happy to see and swore on everything that she manifested us. Now, with my close friends knowing about Elias, I am slightly free.
What they don't know is that he will be leaving me soon. I don't need them trying to talk me out of something that is going to end soon. I just want to enjoy the time I have with Elias, peacefully. Malachi has been helping me keep Carlos out of my office since they work together. Liv has been suggesting that we go out on a double date, even though Elias declined that offer.
And for the first time in a long time... I am at peace with myself.
I am happy. As I make my way to get Elias for breakfast, I hear a whisper of argument. I quietly approach his bedroom door and press my ear against the door.
"mamma... can you listen to me just for one second?" he says, "Tornerò tra un paio di settimane, quindi smettila di fare un grosso problema," (I am coming back in a couple of weeks, so stop making such a big deal).
He goes silent.
"Farò quello che vuoi. Lo prometto." (I'll do whatever you want, I promise).
The door handle jingles and I step back quickly and make it seem as if I was about up to the door.Elias has an irritated look, which quickly vanishes at the sight of me. I try my best to smile and not look concerned.
"Um... do you want to go out for breakfast?" I ask.
"Not today, love. I have somewhere to be in half an hour," he kisses the top of my head, "You're going to be working alone,"
"Why? Where are you going?" I follow him down the steps, "Is this about Amanda?"
