Later that night I was laying on Cara’s bed with a green bedspread, pink throw pillows, and a couple of brown build-a-bears in frilly girly dresses on it, with my legs resting on the wall by her head board listening to her complain about not owning anything “European enough” in her closet for London.
“Why did I even look up the fashion styles there…I knew I wouldn’t own anything remotely close to what is high fashion over there…” She continues on rambling more as she throws clothes over her shoulder onto the floor.
“Cara, you don’t need to be dressed in high fashion over there to fit in. Remember packs from all over the world will be going as well, meaning that if you pack what is mutually fashionable on all continents you’ll be as golden as the sun.” I say calmly to her while rolling over onto my stomach, and raise an eyebrow “Besides you own better clothes than half the world anyway, so what is this mini freak out really about Cara?”
“What if I don’t meet him and I’ll be a lonely crazy cat lady and die an old maid and alone…”
I hold in my laughter as best I can and take a few deep breaths so I can reply, “You will find him, you have to you’re too awesome not to have a rockin’ mate. Plus if you don’t I will personally find him for you.”
Giggling Cara exclaims, throwing a shoe at me “You soooooo would not do that El!”
“HEY! If that was one of your heels I could have died! The spikes on them are basically a weapon not footwear!” I exclaim ducking away from the flying purple flat. Why do we tend to resort to throwing things at one another? Because its how we show our love to each other sunshine! “Cara! You just invaded my privacy!” Nuh-huh, you left the link wide open! The whole pack is laughing about it! Remember the first step in embarrassment is forgetting to close your mind and mouth.
Ugh mind link… it’s a pain, I often forget to block my thoughts from the pack and they umm… get some embarrassing thoughts or tidbits about my friends and I through it. Thank the goddess that after a certain distance the mind link doesn’t work, so in Europe I will be safe.
“ Fini!” Cara yells as she zips up her bedazzled suitcase. “You know we are going to London not France right? Or did you fail geography THAT badly.”
“Ruin my fun much, I was just embracing our Québécois neighbors in the next province over. Geesh way to jump to conclusions much, anyway time to get you packed up to become an international traveler.” Cara says pulling her suitcase to beside her bedroom door, before running up to my room.
I follow slowly behind her out of her room and upstairs, already I can hear my suitcase being zipped open as well as my walk in closet doors being opened. Sighing I follow the trail of clothing being thrown out of my closet onto my bedroom floor to where Cara is organizing outfits for me.
Two hours and three arguments later I am all packed as well.
“Packing check, passport check, toiletries check, carry on check, travel purse check, and most importantly spending money check! Now all we have to do is finish our Exams Elana.” She almost looks like a kid in a candy store ready for her latest treat, in this case though it will be new malls and shops to explore for clothes and jewelry and of course European shoes!
Clara finished laying out my travel outfit then headed for the door, “ Well Ellie girl I think I am going to head off to bed. Goodnight. Sleep tight. Don’t let the beddy bugs bite!” She disappears out the door, I yell after her “Good Night. Sleep tight. Don’t let the beddy bugs bite!” and listen to her footsteps all the way until she’s made it to her room.
I quickly changed into my sleeping shorts and a random concert t-shirt, which happens to be Luke Bryan tonight, climbed into bed and began to slowly drift of to sleep.
