Chapter 9: Kill the Truth

"I promise you this Akame I will honor your legacy and I won't die."

My own words echo in my mind as I wake up inside cage.

Both the Murasame and the Yatsufusa were taken away from me and for some ungodly both the Demon's extract and the Incursio refused to work. My body felt weak almost as if gravity itself was constantly pushing me and as if animals were biting into my flesh.

The place I was held in reassembled a wooden basement, full of boxes, hay and disposable trash. Almost no light made it into the place, the only thing keeping me from total darkness was a lantern placed on top of barrel next to my cell.

Stripped of my clothes all that remained to cover me were my tattered pants. Taking a look at the darkness outside of the cage I catch glimpse of Kai staring at me from within the cover of darkness.

Immediately punching the cage my fist clashes with hard steel. I scream incomprehensible words at her as my sanity ever so slowly returned.

"WHY DID YOU BETRAY US!?"

She laughs at my anger with a mischievous expression.

"Calm down babe if you punch the cage too hard you'll end up breaking your cute hand!"

Kai's expression was full of madness, but her eyes had a lifeless look to them almost as if she was under someone's influence.

I exhale.

Sitting down I try to calm down, but unfortunately my instinct kept ordering me to kill her. To break her apart...the rage within me was almost unbearable...but I can't let it consume me, otherwise Esdeath will take over.

My crimson eyes locks-on to the purple haired female standing outside my cell.

"Soon you'll be king of the new world my love...and I will be your queen!"

Her stare was terrifying and lifeless at the same time.

"You crazy bitch...you killed Asuka, you betrayed Night Raid...the moment I get out of here you're dead!"

In response to my words the woman who claimed to love me just a few days ago laughs at my face.

"You may reject me now sweetie, but once general Mira is done resetting your configurations you'll be begging to be inside me once more...oh! and by the way- She picks up a large plastic bag dripping with blood then tosses it next to my cage.

My heartbeat increases drastically as if I was about to suffer a heart attack, but that wasn't the case. From within the bag roll out two heads.

Akalian and Leon's head.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!"

My mind explodes with anger. All I can do is scream at the top of my lungs as I continuously punch the cage as hard as I can till my fist starts bleeding.

"Love you're soo cute when your angry hehehehahahaha! "

Her mischievous grin now extended from one side of her face to the other as her laughter began driving me crazy. My body finally gives up due to the lack of oxygen and soon after my mind goes blank as an unbearable pain plagues my chest.

I finally pass out unable to withstand any more pain.

They're all dead, Misaki, Leon, Asuka and Akalian...I've failed you all...I've failed you Akame...

I wake up hours later strapped to a metal chair with chains holding my limbs in place, I look up and see a tall muscular woman with long blond hair and sapphire blue eyes standing over me...General Mira.
