Chapter Six
"So..." Chloe stated as we each packed a backpack. "Where first? Not to mention how long are we going to be? What about school? Where are we going to get all the money we need to travel all over the place? Have you even thought this through, Tianna? I mean this is kinda crazy. We're looking for a guy, with no clue where to find him. What he looks like. Or even his name! It's a wild goose chase!"
"Chloe!" I shouted at her, "stop rambling. First of we're going to Los Angles. I saw in the papers this morning when I was walking past the shop that a polar bear had been spotted around the mall after sunset. I don't know how long we're going to be gone for. As for school I don't care about that either. I took over Gavin's job after he died, so I've got plenty of money saved up. Not to mention all the money Gavin has apparently left me in the bank. As for finding this guy; yes it is going to be hard. All I can suggest now is travel to the places where animals have been spotted, try and find these people and go from there."
"So, in other words. We're screwed." I heard Chloe whisper as I walked down the stairs.
"Basically." I laughed. "Look we've only got a few hours till sundown. If I book us some tickets now for tomorrow morning. We leave as soon as we're back in are normal forms, okay?" I turned to look at her. She had uncertainty written all over her face. "Look, if you've changed your mind that's fine. You're right. This is a wild goose chase. We may never find the guy. But I'm not going to give up; this guy has ruined my life. Not to mention because of this, Gavin's dead."
"Okay, okay. I know. You've said all this before. And I'm not backing out. I told you I would help and I will. I want to be normal again too." She smiled brightly at me and I smiled back hugging her tight.
"Come on we've got lots to do before tonight."
We went are separate ways. I book tickets for an early flight to LA, hired a car and booked a room at a small motel in the middle of nowhere. I didn't see Chloe again until dinner time.
"Why the middle of nowhere?" she asked shocked.
"Because, in the middle of nowhere is a forest. A good place for us to hide when we transform and somewhere where we hopefully won't be spotted." I told her, in a tone that is stating the obvious.
"Don't use that tone of voice with me!" Chloe argued. I laughed because she was standing up, one hand on her hip and her other pointing at me. She had a stern look at her face and was using a bad imitation of a mother scolding a child. Chloe sat down and finished her dinner.
Once we had finished dinner, we went around the cabin tidying the rooms. We only five minutes to spare before sunset, we had managed to clean the cabin and made it look brand new.
"So, this is it," I said, having just closed the door, I left the keys hanging off the handle. "I've spent ten years here. And now I'm finally leaving home." I felt sad to be leaving all the memories, the good and the bad. And Gavin.
I turned to Chloe. "We better hide are bags with our clothes in the usual place. I'll meet you at the old oak in the morning."
She nodded and turned away heading towards her usual hideout in the forest. I turned and walked towards mine, thinking about how I would miss this place.
When I reached my marker I looked between the trees to notice the sun just beginning to set. I stripped off my clothes and put them into my bags, with all my clean clothes, passport, money, accessories. When I was undressed I looked towards the sky once more before my vision went black.
~Vision~
Again I'm soaring over the tree tops I see mice scatter for safety as I swoop low hoping to snatch a last meal around this area.
