CHAPTER SEVEN
I opened the door to see identical twins. At first glance there was nothing to tell each other a part. Black glossy hair hung to the base of their necks, both in the same style. Olive toned skin, full lips and their eyes…the only word I could describe them is a pale green, so light…wait. One of the twins has a green and dark brown eye. The only difference between them. Even their clothes are identical.
The one with the green and brown eyes spoke first, “My name is Emilio. This is my brother, Antonio. Our boss sent us over to help you both.” He announced casually. They both looked in their early twenties. Very early. Twenty-one or twenty-two at least.
“Help us with what?” Chloe asked.
“Your abilities, of course,” Antonio answered.
“What abilities?” I asked.
“Look,” Emilio said frustrated. “We don’t have time to answer all your questions.” He turned to me. “You’re Tianna, right?” When I nodded he continued, “Tomorrow. One o’clock. The park. All your questions will be answered. Okay?” And with that he turned and walked out with his brother on his heels, closing the door behind him.
Chloe and I exchanged glances.
“Well? What are you going –?” her question was cut off as the sun set.
I awoke around ten the next morning both Chloe and I had managed to stay safely in our hotel room. Minimal damage done to the room. Mainly feathers scattered everywhere thanks to yours truly.
Chloe was just exiting the bathroom when I finished collecting up the last feather. No need for a maid to come in and suspect we have animals in a no-animal’s allowed hotel.
“Morning,” she greeted as she walked over to sit on her bed. “I ordered breakfast for you,” she added pointing to the pile of pancakes on the table.
“Thanks,” I replied as a grabbed some clean clothes. “What are you doing today?”
“Erm…no idea. Wait, why me? What are you going to do?” she asked. When I just stared at her she gasped. “You’re not seriously thinking of meeting those two today are you?”
“Chloe, they have answers!” I told her. “We might finally find out why this happened to us. Of course I'm going.”
“Then I'm coming too,” she said.
“No,” I replied quickly. “In case anything did happen to me, though I doubt it if we’re going to a park in daylight, I need you here.” I turned and walked into the bathroom to shower.
We argued for the rest of the morning, but I finally won the argument just before I had to leave.
“You don’t even know where the park is!” exclaimed Chloe.
“That’s why I'm going down to the front desk to ask,” I said as I gathered my coat and keys. “I’ll see you later.” I added walked out the door.
“Be careful!” Her reply came through the door.
I got into the elevator and went down to the ground floor. Walking up to the front desk I saw it was a young woman. She smiled at me as I approached.
“Good afternoon, how can I help?” she asked.
“I was wondering if you could tell me where the nearest park was please.” I replied.
“Of course,” she smiled, “turn right when you exit the hotel, first left, the park is on your right. Have a nice day.”
“Thank you.” I said walking out the front door and turning right. I followed the woman’s directions and reached the park in less than ten minutes. When I looked at my watch it read, 12:55p.m. I looked around the small park, that was crowded with small children and their parents, to see if I could spot the twins. But instead of the twins I spotted someone else.
