Before kissing my Prince Charming a bird started to sound like my alarm clock, playing one of my favorite songs. I glanced back to the Prince but to my disappointment, he was gone. The world around me began to dissolve into a black void causing me to fall with it. Sighing softly I sit up, woken from my dream. Glancing out the window of my apartment complex, a smile spreads on my face seeing the bright sky. I turn to the side, kicking the blanket off with me as I get up.

Getting ready for the day was always the easy part, but actually leaving was the hard part. Especially when you're the new kid at school. I slip on bleached jean shorts and a cream-colored crop top. Grabbing my mother's hoodie off the hook, I tie it around my waist. I walk through my complex going to the kitchen to grab a quick snack while putting on my socks. After munching down on yogurt with strawberry cuts in it, I slip on my white converse. Grabbing my backpack from the back of a chair, I swing it over one shoulder.

Taking my phone and keys from the small marble bowl I say to myself in a whisper, closing my eyes. You'll make some friends, don't worry. Being the new kid is a 50/50, you know this. Make some friends, make some enemies. Just don't try to be something you're not just to fit in. With that, I leave the complex on my way to my new school, Midtown High School.

30 minutes pass

Glancing up from the ground, looking at the school in front of me with all the children flooding into it. I sigh softly, repeating what I said to myself before I left before I begin walking up the paved way. As I kept my eyes ahead of me, I could feel eyes begin to land on me. Starting with a few here and there but by the time I got to the doorway, I could feel close to 50 sets of eyes on me. Taking a deep breath I walk in and keep my head held my head high, the nervousness slowly fading away.

Once getting to my locker I put in my combination and the scent of pinecones and honey fills my scenes. I glanced to the side seeing a boy with curly brown hair talking to who I assume was his friend, a few lockers down. I hold my backpack against the locker next to me as I empty my things, quickly setting up my locker while I listen to their conversation. "Have you seen the sudden new students?" His friend asked causing me to smile to myself. While trying to get the adhesive on the shelf, the books begin to fall off of the other shelf. I make a soft squeak letting go of the current shelf just to catch the books.

I trip back slightly but feel an arm wrap around my waist, keeping me from falling but holding me in a dipped position. I glance up at the person who saved me from getting a bruise and it was the boy with curly hair. I gave a small smile as he nervously chuckles, wrapping his other arm around and pulling me back straight up. Once I was on my feet and not about to fall back over he let go and stepped back out of courtesy. I glance at my locker, the top shelf somehow knocked down the bottom one making it look like a mini hurricane was inside my locker.

He stuck out his hand speaking in a soft but comforting voice "hi, I'm Peter. You must be one of the new kids" I switched most of the books into my left arm, sticking my hand out and shaking his lightly. "Hello, I'm Adelaide." We separated our hands as his friend asks from behind me, moving to go next to Peter. "Hi I'm Ned, is that a Russian name?" I giggled softly, turning back to my locker and setting the books down on the floor by my feet as I fix the lockers. "Actually it's Germanic, it means Noble and Kind." As I fixed my locker back to what I had planned for it, I held a conversation with the two.

After about 10 minutes of finally fixing my locker back to my plan the bell rung. Peter asked, "what class do you have first?" I glanced up at him while handing my phone to Ned so he can type in his number. "Physics Honors" Ned mumbled something to Peter and shoved him slightly, throwing him off balance as a light pink tint spread across his cheeks. I giggled softly as Ned handed Peter my phone while saying, "that's our first class too. We can show you the way and if you need help with notes or classwork don't be afraid to ask us. Especially Peter" when he said Peter he added an extra effect. Kind of like in a cliche romance movie where all the girls go "ohh."

Shutting my locker I turn to them with a book and journal in hand with a pencil pouch clipped to one of my belt loops. "I'd like that, and maybe we can do study session's at a library. Although, I'm pretty sure I'll be no help since I'm not that good." I tell them as they lead me to the first class. While they talk to me assuring me that I'm actually good I think to myself, well would you look at that, you made some friends. Now just be ready for enemies and lean on your newfound friends for support.
