Chapter Twenty Six: The Story Unfolds

"what? What do you mean Riki?" Heeseung panicked. "I saw it, earlier when we fought." as he sat down and began telling them.

"nahee wiped my tears and I noticed her watch." he explained, "then that only means one thing, right?"

“one of the suspects, let's be careful and let's just act normally. that way, no one will be suspicious.” sunghoon told everyone, they agreed to what he said.

Sunghoon

“Sunghoon, can I talk to you for a minute?” Turning his back to heeseung, he raised his eyebrow. “I only got 15 minutes to spare.” sunghoon stated as he looked at his watch.

“you like Hiraya right? That's why you're doing this for her. Like the participation.” Sunghoon stood there, looking at him for a while before answering.

“I do, heeseung. I like her, why the sudden question?” Sipping his drink, he asked. “Well, I like her too.” heeseung replied.

“I know, that's why I'm going to do whatever it takes to get her.” He slowly walked to heeseung.

“I’m sorry, heeseung. It looks like this is going to be a competition between us. But, as long as I have a chance to win, I'm going to get her.”

Heeseung smiled at him, “I am doing the same thing too, Sunghoon.” He replied.

“Well then, let the competition begin.” They said in unison as both went in their own separate ways.

Sunghoon (pov)

I went to my car and sighed, placing my hands to the steering wheel. I closed my eyes because of frustration.

What did you do to me Hiraya? Look at me, I'm fighting for you.

I dialed Hiraya's number on my phone. “Hey, good thing you picked up.” I spoke first. “I was wondering if you're available tonight?”

I was nervous at first, but when I heard she agreed, a smile so wide was painted on my face.

“Thanks, see you later.” I then ended the call.

this was it, I'm going to get her no matter what.

Hiraya

“Hi, sunghoon.” She said as she entered his car. “Where are we going?” Sunghoon smiled at her. although, it was going to be night soon enough she could still see his precious smile.

“I’m going to treat you to dinner.” He said, as the car started.

“This place is so fancy, thank you for bringing me here.” He even moved the chair for her so she could sit.

Hiraya smiled at him, “Sunghoon, There must be a reason why we're together, right?” sunghoon sighed.

“For sure there is, I'll tell you later. Let's enjoy this meal first, shall we?” The girl nodded her head and began eating.

Late night walks

“Are you not cold?” He asked. “No, I'm fine.” she replied with a small giggle. “Hiraya, is someone on your mind lately?”

Well, she was stunned on that question. “I— what? Sorry, it was so sudden.” She scratched her nape because of the awkwardness she felt.

“I don't really know.” she answered him making sunghoon stop walking.

“Hiraya, I'm going to be brave from now on.” He stated. “What do you mean? you're always brave.”

“I know, but this time, it's a different type of being brave.” Hiraya was confused, what was he going to do?

“The video, it was from me.” He said making hiraya widen her eyes. “Wh. . .what?” she replied.

“I filmed it, I was passing by when I saw you get off your work. I wanted to go to you but then I saw a car waiting near you so I decided to wait. I thought it was someone you knew.

Then I filmed it, because my instincts told me something was about to happen. It was a good thing people were fast enough to call the ambulance.”

“Sunghoon, why?” that was all she could tell him. She was confused, it was too much to take in.

“Hiraya, I. .I like you.”

Finally, those words he was waiting to be released from his mouth was finally free. “Sunghoon, I—”

“I know you like someone else hiraya, so save your rejecting letter for me. Hear me out first.” he said.

“The first day we met, the first day I saw you, you were really something else, I thought. You were so lonely that it made me felt sad.

I wanted you to have someone by your side that would be there for you whenever you needed someone to rely on. And, I realised that I could be one.

You're so beautiful, hiraya. There are a lot of girls but why do I keep coming back to you? I know it sounds cringe but, you shine differently from the others.

I wouldn'tknow I actually liked you and fell from you when I didn't see your inhaler that was on your pocket. Because, that day it bothered me so much.

Why did I keep thinking on what that thing was? I kept worrying for you all night. I couldn't sleep, I was wondering if you were okay or not.

The one you choose would be very lucky. I just want to say thank you for being with me, and I understand that you wouldn't choose me.

That's why I did that, I was coward, I couldn't protect you. All I could do was film, I don't deserve you.

But, hiraya maybe someday, in another universe, you would give me a chance.” Hiraya stood there, frozen. She didn't know what to say.

“Sunghoon.” She said while trying to stop her tears. “I’m sorry.” Sunghoon went close to her and hugged her and that's when she bursted out to crying.

“I’m sorry I can't return the same feelings you have for me.” She muttered enough for him to hear.

He chuckled sadly, “It’s fine, this feelings will fade one day. I'll try to get used to seeing you with someone else. But, always love yourself first.”

She nodded, “Still friends, right?” he asked. “Of course.”

Sunghoon drived hiraya home, “Thanks sunghoon, take care.” she said as she went out of the car.

“I love you.” he whispered when she got out.

Sunghoon sighed and cried, he was feeling sad and at the same time fine. He didn't know what to feel.

“Congratulations, Lee Heeseung. You won.”

Heeseung

Heeseung went to get something from a shop. “She would love this.” He said as he looked at a diary. It was an old diary but the inside were completely empty.

He went to pay for it and went home. “I like you so much Hiraya, funny how I got into a competition just for you.” He chuckled while looking at the rose on his desk.

“Tomorrow, I'll tell everything.” He received a notification from their group chat that made him shocked.

hello! I've decided to post the poem at the last chapter of the story! This chapter sure is a lot to take in, I hope you guys understood that the universe gave sunghoon and hiraya a chance to meet but they were just a passerby in each other's stories.
