I turn around to see Deline finally awaken after the worst night of her life, lying still on the bed with her back facing me. I put down her breakfast on a table to join her in the bed and sat at the edge to answer her question, "I don't know, maybe, he never really forget you, even with your hair dyed white" I answered, smiling assuringly although she can't see."...how old are you now?" I added. Deline finally gets up from the bed to sit.
"I'm seventeen now" she answered, staring at the floor with her eyes freshly open from a long sleep.
"We're getting older, but getting prettier," I mumbled between a soft chuckle before changing into a serious sound yet still delicate, I ask, "...would you mind if I ask... what really happened? last night?"
She let out a heavy breath before her blue eyes honed directly into mine, "I volunteered to pretend as Titus' sister. So... I will be captured. Instead of her. I wanna leave," she bowed her head while scratching her fingernails and drilling it together.
"Wait... how... and why? I mean, how did you know?" a wholesome confusion is wrapping around my face. I mean, did she just sacrifice her own safety for the sake of that woman? Am I hearing it right?
"Locke caught Nari before the event even started. That made me jump on the idea that you were all there" she answered. I sit more properly to pay more attention as an affection, " ...don't get mistaken, they all treated me right. Mostly Locke. She treated me like her real sister, she treated me the best. But the moment she lost her heart, everything changed." I can trace the extreme sadness in her voice, more even when she looked outside the window and tried to remember more.
What does she mean when she said she lost her heart? Lost her heart like how Titus lost his heart?
"...I don't have her anymore. And I just don't feel like this is the life that I would be going to be died for. I don't need to be strong, I don't want to witness horrific things anymore. I just want to be peaceful, with her, with Locke who used to be Pana. She's the only family I have. But she has her brother now, and now planning to have a..." She looks back at me to see my blank expression for discontinuing her spoken thought.
I wanted to laugh, really really loud. What was that? what kind of manipulation was that?
