Open Mic Night

***PART II- From the Cup Song Chapter

*Libby sings in front of the whole school during its annual Open Mic Night- A night filled with karaoke, lots of music, and of course dissing*

It was Wednesday night- which was: Open Mic Night. The whole school was pretty much talking about it, especially Mary Wang and her friends. I could tell tonight was going to be something, seeing everyone's excitement and hype over this event. It was also a yearly thing too, where events like this every year got people very excited. But it also proved very difficult for me.. since I have never done something like this- To sing in front of everyone.. yep.

I try not to think much about it as I head on down to the gym, feeling nervous and insecure I thought- I will make a grand mark, I just need to believe and be positive.. But how? Fine, I'm positive.. I'm positive that this IS CRAZY!

My train of thought soon halted as my friends spotted me come inside.

"Wait- it's her!!" I hear Toby exclaim.

"Libby!" They all come up to me very excited.

"Hey!" I wave and greet.

"You made it in!" Claire said.

"Yeah, we knew she did not wanna miss this.." Jim says.

"Haha.. ok anyways did it start yet or.."

"No, it's just about to.. You came in just in time-

Then Steve Palchuck comes inside, feeling proud of himself, like always... But at this point everyone's sitting at the bleachers all waiting for the event to happen

"The PALCHUCK has now ARRIVED and is READY to DESTROY!" "HE WILL CRUSH ALL WHO- " He gets cut off by someone in the crowd.

"SIT DOWN STEVE!" Followed by booing and jeering from everyone else. They soon start throwing popcorn and other kinds of food at him. My friends and I just watched as we got to our seats, not wanting to miss a second of this.

"FINE!" He storms off into the back.

After that, Coach Lawrence went over the middle below, held the mic and welcomed everyone to the Open Mic Night. He explained what was going to happen tonight (Karaoke, Diss battles- which I'm sure everyone will do.. And yeah all that...)
And that there are snacks, food and beverages for everyone.

Also did I mention there's a live band too? No seriously. Like for real- yeah you read that right.

And so we heard various people coming up to the mic, one by one, group by group. Claire and Toby went down and sung as well, which was very funny overall. Various songs, various dissing going on as well.. don't forget the karaoke.. Oh yeah, Mary and her besties really nailed karaoke, super awesome! And as we all watched and laughed, Toby was really focused on the snacks over at the table in the corner.. A very good time for him.

The fun then started to dissipate as it was Steve's turn. The cheers and laughing from everyone soon turned dead silent as the so-called "The Palchuck" reaches over for the mic. He started to sing I forget which song- But he sung it.. Ehh.. Well.. how should I put this..? Um, oh yes, super HORRIBLY. And soon the gym filled with loud booing and jeers once again.

Steve abruptly stops mid-song and gets really fed up with everyone.

"ARE YOU GUYS SERIOUS?" "YOU GUYS ALL HAVE BAD TASTE!"

Then Saraline Timbers hollers at him. The spotlight shines on the blonde shorthaired girl.

"Hey Steve!"
