The First Challenge (Week One)

I got out of the stuffy plane and stretched my arms. I couldn't wait for week one to get started. I was so excited. I loved singing and the people competing against me were really cool and nice. I met a girl and her older brother. They were twins. Linnea and Tuck. They were very nice people too. Not only that, they were on my team. I walked to a hotel with all the contestants.

Christina greeted us and pointed out all our sections. Pharnell's team got the pent house at the top of the hotel. All 20 of us dashed up there. Well, more like impatiently waited on the elevator and tripped each other coming out. I jumped onto a large bed overlooking all of Boston. Linnea and I shared a room. Tuck and another guy named Ryan both got the room next door. Linnea and I hummed tunes as we passed each other a fuzzyball she had. We laughed when the other made a lyric mistake.

A few hours later, we were eating dinner and my T-Phone rang. I pulled it out and hit the answer button. "This is Emma", I said. "Emma did you land saftly?" a worried Donatello said on the other end. "Yes I did Donnie. How's the 5 hours been without me?" I asked. "Well Leo's been meditating the majority of the time, Sensei along with Leo sometimes walking around. Mikey won't touch his video games so he's been in his room for almost all of the day. Raph is reading comics in his room and I'm trying not to blow anything up. April went home 4 hours ago", he reported. I laughed. "Thanks", I said. "Your welcome", he said. "I got to go now so I'll call you sometime again", I said. "Aww. Well, bye and good luck and I love you Emma", he said. "Bye Donnie", I said hanging up. I put my T-Phone in my pocket and put my plate in the sink. Pharnell walked in. "Hello everyone!" he said and sat at the head of the table. "Hi Pharnell", everyone said at their own time. "So I have to meet with everyone on the team tomorrow and the next day about week one. The order is randomly chosen and on the corkboard near the elevator", he said and stood up. "Good night everyone", he said tipping his hat. We all waved and continued what we were doing.

I went to my room and laid down on the balcony, looking over Boston. I leaned against the wall and smiled. I was gald I was here. Tuck came out on the balcony. "I like this place already", he said sitting down on the edge. I nodded and looked down. People walked by and others drove by. I looked around and saw that ever room in the hotel was locked and closed. The balconies were all closed and the windows black because people were sleeping or something. I jumped from mine and landed on the one below. Tuck looked down at me like i was run over or road kill. I jumped off the hotel and landed on antoher buliding. This reminded me of New York and what my brothers would do. I was so happy, jumping from one rooftop to another. Boston was an amazing place. I backflipped into the night dodging satilites on the roofs.

(The next day)

"Emma! Your the first one that Pharnell is seeing today!" Linnea said looking at the corkboard. I looked up from my plate full of food. I was nervous for today. I didn't know if I would mess up or anything. "You gonna eat Emma?" Tuck asked sitting down after looking at the board. "Later", I said putting my plate on the counter. I went to my room and pulled out of my suitcase a canvas I had been working on for a while. It had all four of my brothers on it. I hadn't painted on it yet, still sketching on it. I put it away and changed into a blue and pink pastelish dress. "Emma he's here to meet with you in the conference room", Tuck said on the other end of the door. I opened the door and ran to the main room. Pharnell stood near the door. He guestured to it and I waved bye to Linnea and Tuck. As we walked down the hallway, he talked to me. "Your brothers are very nice. They help you a lot don't they?" he asked turning a corner. I nodded. "I talked to them and they said you can play the guitar and the piano", he said. I nodded. He stopped at a room at the end of the hall. He opened the door. It was a small conference room. I sat in a chair and he sat across me. "You get to chose a song to make and peform it. The theme this week is toys so you have to do a song like that. It can be silly, funny, cool, sad, anything", he said. "Any ideas?" I looked around and my eyes landed on the window. A family was standing near the hotel. A mom, dad, brother, and little girl. Pharnell looked at them as well. "There could be a back story to them", I said. "Emma." "Yea?" "Those are maniquins", he said laughing. "Thats it! I'll make my song about them!" I said. "Ok. You should start. I have to meet with others, he said motioning to the door and standing up. I ran back to my room to get started.

(Emma's Performance Time)

I stood backstage looking at the wall. I was nevous. I wore a black knee high dress and a blue flower in my hair. I had black gloves on as well. It was my time to go on. I took a deep breath and walked on stage. The judges chairs were facing me as all four of them stared at me. The music started to play as I sang my song called, "Dollhouse".

Hey girl, Open the walls,

Play with your dolls,

We'll be a perfect family.

When you walk away,

Is when we really play.

You don't hear me when I say,

"Mom, please walk up!

Dad's with someone! And your son is smoking cannabis."

No one ver listens,

This wallpapaer glistens.

I finished the last line with a whisper as my words faded into the backround. The whole place cheered, even the judges were jumping out of their seats. Pharnell had an ear-to-ear grin on. I smiled. "You are going to Nashvile with us!" Christina yelled and handed me a plane ticket. I hugged her and Pharnell as i walked off stage. "You were great!" Linnea said as she hugged me. Tuck hi-fived me. I celebrated with them as they passed the first round. I was so happy. I loved this place so much. I cant believe we were going to Nashvile. I was excited.
