Chapter 20

"Hey why are you waiting here? I thought you were home..."
Rose literally jumps on Josh almost knocking him down in the process..
"It took you so long! I was waiting since yesteryear...."
He tries to move her from hug to see her face better but she just burries her face deeper in the crook of his neck, he pats her back in slow gentle rubs calming her when she breaks down wetting his apron in the process.
" Shh shhhhh calm down Rose tell me what's wrong you're getting me worried. What's the matter? Calm down first." he takes her to nearby place to sit and after about few minutes she manages to look at him in the eye, her face was a bit swollen and red with all her crying fit.
" I wanted to get the reports and investigate a bit more in surgery ward, I talked with a person who looked an awful lot like the one we saw in the vedios!"
"No kidding are you serious?! In my hospital?!"
He lowered his voice to not attract any unwanted attention.
"Yes! I swear it was him, I've never seen his full face not even eyes but I have an unshakable feeling it's him, Gosh you guys wear so many things while performing surgery..."
"Rose it's not safe to stay here and discuss this let's leave, I'll be in a moment after informing the staff that I am leaving.
" I am coming with you, I don't want to stay alone."
"Okay."
When we reach to the reception area, I refuse to move, the receptionist eyes me and oggles at our entwined hands, Josh having little clue about what I was about to do nudges me to move, I tiptoe and kiss him on cheek and the receptionist looks down, knowing I hit the ball a smile forms on my face, satisfied I move dragging a quite stunned Josh.
"Walk a little will ya?"
"You never did that before.." says a confused Josh.
The man's a 27 year old fool who can't play along and has to know every damn thing screamed Rose's mind.
"Your receptionist denied me info when I asked her about all the surgeons on duty at the moment, I forgot my ID home thankfully else even that would have been stolen anyway so I pretended your soon to be wife's role and still got denied and she literally had the nerve to mock me! I am telling you she's rude. "
Josh felt his cheeks heat up when rose uttered the word wife. To her it meant nothing but to Josh it was a moment of celebration only if the baka understood how much he loved her. He had been imagining a future with her since she turned 19 before that all he felt towards her was the protective instinct, she looked dainty and naive in childhood but he got to know that she was no less than a wild being trapped in that small body, she used to pick fights with almost everyone and it was Josh who had to separate her from fights with her hands and legs kicking in all directions. She was his father's best friend's daughter and it felt like his duty to protect her in his childhood, it easily became habit without choice and he started noticing his feelings towards her when  she turned around 19. He just entered his masters and had little time to spend with her but gave all the free time he had to offer to her. Earlier he always went unannounced at her place, he was always welcome. Uncle Noah cherished him like his own son! Little did he know things would change when he'd choose medical profession. It was a mystery how Noah was best friends with Josh's dad despite him being the owner of city's most popular hospital and ofcourse a chief surgeon and when Josh chose the same path all Noah did was act like he didn't know Josh all along. He was not stopped from entering the house but he felt extremely unwelcomed by Noah and gave up visiting their house altogether but never can he even remotely think about leaving Rose.
He got pulled out of trance when Rose impatiently snapped fingers infront him
"Are you even listening or cutting someone open in that mind of yours?"
"Ya I'm listening, well instead of all the drama you could have just called me."
Looking at Rose's blank face he understood she definitely did that.
"What makes you think I didn't? Check that phone of yours."
Sure enough she called him thrice.
"OK I am sorry I was in OT, I'll get the details so as to who was on duty during the time you called."
"Hey boss! Your father was looking for you he's in room 303."
" Oh thanks David."
"Rose I will meet him and be here in a moment alright, will you wait for me in the waiting area.?" Josh patiently asks Rose.
"OK, come soon."
Sitting in waiting room was tiring even for a minute she walked restlessly along the corridor her mind occupied with the doctor and all the data, she mentally made a list of all the places she had visited to get info regarding the Miller case that she had under her countdown and somehow it was related to this case, it had been a bummer for her to establish link between the Miller's company and Josh's hospital, she remembers how she almost lost her life while finding documents in basement and was minutes away to get locked, she definitely was the luckiest person to be blessed by stars at the same moment the person about to close basement doors went away talking on his phone and she left with the two documents she managed to find. The memory alone left her covered in goosebumps and she cursed herself for bringing her laptop again. She was just about pondering upon the situation trying to remember all the details she can of the Miller's documents. She remembered a hefty transaction about 50000 dollar worth between Miller's company and this hospital initially that's how she came to know between the two knowing each other and she solemnly made promise to ask Josh about everything this hospital has to do with Miller.
Josh snatched her hand away from her that mercilessly kept picking skin of her lips and they were already bleeding.
"Christ Rose! You need to stop picking your lips, they're bleeding."
