Training for the provisional licence had been hectic but it had reached the day before the exam and everyone had just finished up with training so everyone was either in their rooms or in the common area just lounging about. Tonya was one of the people who had chosen to go to their rooms.
She was just sat on the floor playing with Indigo when a knock at her open door averted her attention, Katsuki was stood leaning against her doorframe and looking at her, "can we talk?"
She saw something in his eyes that made it seem urgent, "of course, come in and shut the door."
He nodded and shut the door behind him once he moved into the room, Tonya stood up and picked up Indigo, making her way over to her bed. She sat on the side of it and patted the bed beside her, "what do you want to talk about?"
He sat beside her and sighed, "...I've been having panic attacks every night since-" he stopped himself and looked down in what seemed like shame.
"It's okay you don't have to say it. Take your time Katsuki..." Tonya spoke softly gently putting her hand on his shoulder and giving it a comforting squeeze as reassurance.
"I should have been strong enough to get you out of there before they took that damn quirk and now you have a quirk that can kill everyone with one wrong move, it's been haunting me. I wasn't the hero I'm supposed to be..."
"Katsuki, you, by no means, are not the reason my quirk was taken, you are strong okay? You may not have been in that moment but it's okay, you can't always keep up the facade of you being strong and felling like you're the best person to ever exist. To be strong is to have weak moments. It's what makes us us. Every hero has weak moments, even All Might. I know you think you aren't good enough to be a hero after everything that happened but remember we're still kids, we're still in training. If things like that didn't happen hero's wouldn't exist, detrimental incidents are what hero's are supposed to deal with. Don't feel like you're a burden because of it, it gave the Heroes a job no matter how horrible it was. I feel how you feel too, believe me but I've had people to talk about it with. You've kept it all bubbled up for too long Katsuki."
She could see the tears forming in his eyes but she knew he'd be too stubborn to let himself cry so she wrapped her arms around him in a hug. He tensed up, unsure of what to do. "It's okay, everything's gonna be okay..." muttered Tonya.
With those words he sniffed and hugged her back, holding back his tears was no longer an option the second he held her close, he let out soft sobs. All Tonya did in response was rub his back while she kept her arms around him, "let it all out, it's okay Katsuki."
She could feel his tears staining her t-shirt but she didn't really care, her friend was more important.
Tonya sighed, "I just don't know how I'm supposed to be a hero with a quirk I can't even control Cece."
Cece looked at the teen, "then learn everything you possibly can to do with that quirk, once you know everything along with your limits of course, everything should come to you easily. You should take Bakugo's advice about starting off small though, it'll help transition into larger reactions."
She sipped her energy drink, "believe me I'm trying everything I can but it just gets so frustrating because it's pushed me back a lot with school work and as much as I try to stay on top of things it gets too much really quickly. Not to mention I've got Indigo, Hitoshi and my friends to worry about."
The woman frowned, "why don't you just focus on yourself for once? No matter how much you like to please the people around you, you come first before anyone else. Plus we all know that Shinso worries about you more than you have to worry about him..." She muttered the last part, trying to make it fall deaf to Tonya's ears but she heard her.
Tonya raised an eyebrow, "what do you mean he worries about me more?"
"He clearly cares about you a lot and considering everything you've been through that's enough to make anyone worried about you. Literally everyone is Shimura."
She rolled her eyes, "I'm well aware that everyone does, I hate the fucking stares I get wherever I go. What's worse is that everyone's also treating me like a ticking time bomb because of what my quirk can do and who my brother is, I hate it. I just want to be treated like a normal fucking person who just unfortunately had something traumatic happen to them."
"Oh believe me I know at least 5 students in your class that are scared of what your quirk could do."
Tonya glared at her, "that's not helpful, you're supposed to be the counsellor not a bitch."
"Woah woah woah, where did the attitude come from? You know my quirk is Brutal Honesty, Shimura. You can't really do much to get people to treat you like a normal person, for now you're just gonna have to ignore them until it all blows over."
She huffed and checked her phone for the time, "I have to go, thanks for listening to me rant about my bullshit." She stood and grabbed her bag, slinging it over her shoulder and walking out of the room without another word.
Hitoshi was stood by the door when she walked out of the room, he looked at her, "everything okay Kitten?"
She shrugged, "I'm just tired of everything."
He hummed and stepped over to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder, "do you want to just skip the rest of the school day and chill in your room with Indigo? You're too stressed to do work."
She smiled softly, feeling her slowly bubbling anger fizzle down and nodded.
Hitoshi followed after her into her room, pushing the door to a close once he was inside and sitting down beside her on the floor to watch her play with Indigo. She smiled to herself as she watched the kitten jump around trying to catch the feather that she was waving around, feeling Hitoshi slide his arm around her waist and kiss her shoulder before he rested his chin on her shoulder to watch Indigo jump around too.
Tonya chuckled and turned her head to look at the purple haired boy, "you tired?"
He hummed and smiled at her, "a little."
"You can go and nap on my bed if you want," she suggested.
He shook his head slightly, "I'm not gonna sleep if you aren't."
She rolled her eyes with a smile, "stubborn," she muttered.
He planted a kiss on her nose, "hm but you love me."
A soft blush tinted her cheeks, here's now or never, "I do... I love you Hitoshi."
Hitoshi's eyes widened and he moved his head away from her shoulder in shock, "you love me?"
Tonya panicked and looked away, "I mean I know it's really early to say that and you don't have to reciprocate-"
Hitoshi interrupted her by planting his lips on hers, pulling away with a grin, his hands on her cheeks, "I love you too Tonya... Will you be my girlfriend?"
She giggled, "of course I will," she pulled him closer to kiss him again.
