Time to make a change

The family began to eat everyone except Zain ate Cookie's ceaser salad and Zain ate one of his usual meal's of choice. Tonight's meal was chicken and rice. " So Hakeem " Lucious said as he cleared his throat " I've had my PR team write a statement on your behalf " come on dad Why'd you do that "
" because you need to take responsibility for your actions and this is a step in the right direction" Lucious said in a serious tone " make sure you know the statement word for word by the morning " lay off him Lucious" Cookie said giving her man a glare "Cookie I'm teaching him what it means to be responsible he ain't a little kid anymore" of course Zain payed no attention to the conversation that was taking place partly because it was of no interest to him and also because he didn't understand the nature of it.

" I'm done" Zain said as cookie smiled " well done baby" Rhonda said she'd watch Zain tommrow while we handle buissness at Empire" Andre said as he finished eating " Dr Brennan is coming in the morning for Zain's therapy but she's more than welcome to be here while that happens" the night time care staff enter the house and greet Lucious after he leaves the dining room " hey Maurice " hi Mr Lyon what do you want us to watch out for tonight" myself and Cookie are here but um Z hasn't had a nap today so he might be a little difficult throughout the night " don't worry about it sir you and miss Cookie have the night to yourselves me and Damon got this covered" thank you gentleman" Lucious said as he heard the sound of his family gathered in the living room.

Jamal and Hakeem are sat by the piano talking about performing at Leviticus. Andre is sat on the floor with Zain helping him build Lego "house" your coming over to mine and Rhonda's on Friday Z" Andre said while helping Zain. Cookie walked over to Lucious handing him a glass of brandy" thank you baby" Lucious said while looking at Cookie" what's wrong Cook" nothing I'm just worried about Zain" baby he doing good I know it's hard but believe me he's come a long way" yeah I know .. Cookie began to think back to when Zain was first diagnosed

* Flashback to 2003 and a month before Cookie went to prison*
" Boys please calm down I just got your brother to sleep " she says as she puts her head in her hands " Mal look" Andre said hitting his younger brother lightly in the arm" mom are you ok"Jamal said " I'm good baby just try be a little quieter so your brother don't wake up" ok momma " both the boys said in unison. Lucious walked in with a 2 boxes of pizza" foods here come get it boys " the father of 4 said quietly thinking his youngest son might still be asleep " little man still asleep?" Lucious said as the 3 oldest boys ran and grabbed some pizza " "yeah ...I don't know if I can do this Lucious" you can baby we'll do it together we've got this things are looking up and now we know what' the problem is with Z we'll do whatever we have to help him.. I promise " Lucious said as he kissed cookie passionately. A little while later Andre walked downstairs slowly holding Zain's hand lightly " he woke up so I thought I'd bring him downstairs" thank you Dre " Lucious said as he carefully picked Zain up and sat down" we got this baby ok" Lucious said as he grabbed Cookie's hand

Back to the present day

After tidying up the Lego with Andre. It was time for Zain to go to bed "no dad" come on son it's getting late miss Brennan's coming tommrow remember?" No !" Zain said as he was about to run off. Cookie calmly took hold of her son's hand and took him to his bedroom and sat him down on his bed and sat next to him and rubbed the back of his hand with her thumb" now I know you don't like bedtime but it's ok me daddy your brother's were all here ok" unbeknownst to his parents Zain was still a little shook up about seeing Jerome in his sleep, he suddenly layed his head on his mother's shoulder for comfort "it's ok baby I'm here "

Lucious POV

" Right boys tommrow has gotta go our way not just for us or Empire but for Z we gotta honour him in the right way we gotta show how proud we are to have him in our family " your being dramatic dad" I'm not Keem I'm being realistic he's part of the family just as much as anybody else and we need to recognise that more in public eye" Cookie walked in and sat beside Lucious"Zain alright" Lucious asked " yeah Maurice and Damon are in with him now" what if we were to do an autism friendly event at Leviticus " Andre suggested " and how exactly do we do that Dre " Jamal said in disbelief" I don't know but with the right help and research we can find out "that's not a bad idea son find out what you can" Lucious said sitting forward" yes sir" right dad Imma go get ready for tomorrow Hakeem said slapping his dad's arm walking to his mom and kissing her cheek " yeah cmon y'all let's go" Jamal said " see you later Pop" Andre said following his brothers out "see you later boys "
