Eiko's POV

Mommy was washing the dishes. "Eiko, can you come help me dry these dishes?"

"Okay Mommy," I put down my doll and slipped off the couch. "By the way, Eiko, I've put you into a therapy group. It's for kids who've experienced traumatic things and to help them get better," Mommy said as I grabbed a towel and a bowl. "You could even make some friends."

"Oh...okay," I mumbled. I finished drying the bowl I grabbed and continued to a plate.

Mommy's face looked sad and confused, but at the same time. I don't know what the word for that is. "Sweetie, are you sure you're okay?"

"Y-Yeah, Mommy!" I smiled. Oh no, I don't think Mommy believes me.

I tried to make my tears in my eyes go away, but it was too hard, and I started crying.

"It was my fault, Mommy! If I wasn't there, Deku wouldn't be dead!"

Mommy knelt down and wiped away my tears. "Sweetie, it wasn't your fault for what happened. You couldn't do anything about that bad man, and he's going to go away for a long time." She gave me a big hug.

"Why don't we go and play? We can finish the dishes later," Mommy suggested. "Daddy will be home soon!" "O-Okay, Mommy," I sniffled. "Can we have ramen for lunch?"

"Oh, alright, but we're going to eat something different tomorrow," Mommy sighed.

Shoto's POV

I wonder how Eiko's doing, I thought as I flipped through the channels on TV.

"Deku was-"

"Hero Shoto is leaving hero-"

"Today we are rembering the life of the former-"

"Japan is under sho-"

I can't watch a single channel without hearing something about Izuku.

"Shoto, why don't we take a walk? The fresh air would do you some good!" Mom called from the kitchen. "I don't know, Mom, I'm most likely going to be recognized and be stormed by reporters again," I replied.

"Here," Mom handed me a mask. "Put on a hoodie and the mask, people won't see you then."

I gave Mom the most genuine smile I could push out. "Thank you, Mom."

Me and Mom were walking down the path at a nearby park. It was kind of sweaty in the mask and hoodie, but the breeze made up for it.

"Maybe we could go and get some lunch?" Mom suggested. "Sure." I mumbled. "Let's get cold soba!" Mom smiled. "Okay."

"And here is your cold soba," the waiter handed us our bowls. "Thank you, sir," Mom said. I nodded and started eating.

A few minutes later, a little girl ran up to our table. "H-Hi Mr. Shoto!"

It was Eiko. "Oh, hello Eiko," I said once I swallowed the noodles in my mouth. "Oh, hello! So your name is Eiko?" Mom asked. "Yeah! My Momma is over there," Eiko pointed at a nearby table, where her mom waved at us.

"What are you having for lunch, Eiko?" "Ramen!" Eiko exclaimed. "We're having soba," Mom exclaimed. "Ohh! Mr. Shoto, is soba your favorite food?" Eiko asked.

"Mhm," I mumbled through a mouth full of noodles. "Cold."

"Eiko, come finish your food!" Eiko's mom called. "Okay Mommy! Bye, Mr. Shoto, bye Mr. Shoto's mom!" Eiko ran back to her mom to eat. "Bye, little one!"  Mom said.

"She's a cute girl!" Mom exclaimed. "Yeah," I replied. "I'm done, can we go home now?" "Hang on, let me finish my last few noodles." We paid and left for home. We even got Eiko's mom's phone number, who's name we learned was Mariko Tsukomo.

But I could stop thinking about how Eiko seemed so happy. Sure, we was a little kid, they usually forget things and get distracted by stupid stuff. But she almost got killed, and when Izuku died, I saw such regret in her little eyes.

So why was she so happy?

Or was she hiding her pain?
