Just A Friend

Johan was collapsed on the bathroom floor. I threw myself on the floor and kneeled.

"Johan! Johan!" I shouted and shakes his body slightly hoping that he would wake up or respond. But he didn't move a bit.

What should I do now???

I slowed moved his body upward. I couldn't carry him because he was too heavy. I slowly dragged him out of the bathroom and placed him on the mattress which was on the floor, the only thing he had besides a watering can. I checked his pulse it was normal. I decided to ring up to my mom's friend who is also a doctor in the hospital where mom was working.

I rang up to him.

"Hello," he answered the call.

"Mr Jin Woo it's me Y/N, Daughter of Mrs Charles. There is an emergency my friend here has fainted and is blanked out. Please can you come over and take a look" I request him.

"Y/N calm down. I will be there within 15 mins okay?" Mr Jinwoo replied and hang up the phone.

My heart was racing so fast, worrying about what's wrong with Johan. I started praying that he should be completely fine in my mind. I sat down beside Johan and took his hand and began to rub it gently.

Exactly after 15 mins, I heard a knock on the door. I rushed to open the road. I saw a man with a long brown coat with glasses carrying a black bag.

"Mr Jin Woo!"

"Where is your friend?"

I guided him through the empty house where Johan was lying down. Mr Jin Woo took a look at him and asked "How long has he been like this?"

"I... don't know I found him collapsed on the floor when I reached here" I replied worriedly.

Mr Jin Woo took out his stethoscope and checked Johan's heartbeat. Then he pulled up his upper eyes lids and flashed a torch in his eyes. He remained silent for a minute. He then pulled out a syringe and filled it with an antidote and injected them into his veins.

Mr Jin Woo stood up and looked at me and said "This guy hasn't eaten anything for the past two days. Because of his low glucose level, he has fainted"

"He hasn't eaten anything for the past two days?" My eyes widened.

"When he wakes up give him something to eat and a cup of milk," Mr Jin Woo said as he was packing up his things. "Well, I'll get going"

"Thank you so much Mr Jin Woo and how much are the fees?"

"Fees?" Mr Jin Woo raised an eyebrow. "There's no need for that" smiled

I was surprised by how genuine he was and cared deeply for his patients. He prescribed some medicine before he left. I once again thanked him.

I went near Johan and sat beside him and looked at him. "Why didn't tell me anything? I... I would've brought you some food" I murmured to myself.

I stayed near him until he woke up. It's been 30 mins and he didn't move a bit. I decided to toast some bread and bring him a glass of milk to drink. I wasn't a good cook I didn't even know how to cook in the first place.

I came back to Johan's apartment with 4 bread toasts and a glass of milk and sat down beside him.

"M..mom"
I heard Johan say and he began to pant.

"Johan! Wake up!

Johan's eyes slowed open. His vision was a blur for few secs, he was trying to figure out what happened. He looked at me "Y/N?" He tried to sit up but stumbled.

I placed my hand on his back and helped him to sit up.
"Careful," I said.

"What are you doing here? Why am I -"

"I'll tell you what happened but before that eat up" I handed him the toasts and the milk.

He hesitated at first but began to eat to them. He munched the food so fast like a hungry dog who hasn't eaten for days. Then he finished drinking his glass of milk and set the plate and glass.

"Now tell me what happened" he sighed.

"When I came back from school I came here to see if you're okay but you were collapsed in the bathroom and I called a doctor and he came here and treated you," I told him in a subdued tone.

"I... I'm sorry. I wasn't able to do my job today" Johan apologized with his head down.

"Johan..."

I placed my palm on his hand. His black eyes gazed at me. "Johan, if you need anything please tell me I will try my best to give it to you. And if you need to talk about something I'm always here. Ok?"

Johan was speechless. The gesture reminded him of something
familiar, he couldn't exactly figure out what was it but it made him feel better and....loved.

"It's late you should be sleeping now," he said.

"It's just 6:30 pm" I raised an eyebrow. "Here" I handed him two caplets and a glass of water.

"What are these?" He squinted his eyes.

"You should take these two pills because the doc prescribed them"
I said.

He took them, put them in his mouth and gulped a glass of water. He made a sour face after swallowing the caplets.
It made me giggle.

"Why are you laughing," he asked me, bluntly.
"It's just... never mind" I shook my head.

Our eyes meet with each other and there was complete silence for a minute. Just then I realised how close I was to him. I leaned back a little. "Okay then, I will leave now. Sleep well" I said as I stood up and made my way out.

But suddenly Johan grabbed my hand from behind. I stopped and looked back at him
"Do you need something?"

"Thank you Y/N," he said.

"No, it's nothing. I did what everyone else would have done" I paused. "After all, we are friends right?"

"Friends?"

"Yes, You protect me every day that's what friends do." I smiled.
"Okay then bye," I waved at him and left.

Johan looked at me as I walked out. It felt like he wanted to tell me something. I was still wondering why he didn't buy anything with the money he is getting from his job but only a mattress and a water can.

Johan's POV :

Y/n....she reminds me of how mom used to take care of me. She's too pure and kind. I looked out of the window, the moon hung low over the trees.

I didn't know why but my heart felt like I should protect Y/N. But why? That's what I'm doing. It's...like....it feels like, Ugh I couldn't figure it out but all I know is she considers me as a friend. I'll try my best to be a good friend to her.

But there's nothing important to me now. I have already lost everything that matters to me.

Yes, it's just a job nothing more as Gun said I shouldn't consider her as a friend or anything.
