Chapter 2
The next morning I woke up to the sun shining trough the window between Hannah’s bed and mine. I forgot to close the shades .I looked at clock and it read 8:39, wow that was a pretty long sleep for me. I then looked over at Hannah she was already up reading her favorite book, The Last Song.
“Do you want to move?” I asked in a whisper.
Hannah looked up from her book and looked over at me. “ I don’t know, not really but since it is to help grandma out, I’m okay with it. How about you?” She asked sweetly.
“ I don’t know yet. I couldn’t really sleep last night so I was thinking it kinda came out of nowhere, but grandma and grandpa’s neighbor Kaylee and Scarlett seem sweet.” I said.
“Wait who is my age again?” Hannah asked. Obviously she didn’t pay attention when we were introduced to them at their pool.
“ Scarlett she is exactly your age.”
“Cool…but going back about what you said about moving, I was kinda shocked too.” Her brown curly hair was pressed against her cheeks, which I guessed was from crying so much over night. I wish I were as pretty as he I thought. All of the girls wanted to be friends with her and she was majorly talented in everything, especially swimming.
Ending my random thoughts rushing through my head, Hannah replied, “Well maybe our new school will have a good swim team.” I had to smile at that because the kids at our school had trouble swimming like they were competing. It seemed like they had no idea they were racing.
“I might try out for softball.” I said.
Hannah looked up from her book again and said, “Well that will get you to know some new kids.”
“Yeah. That is what I was thinking.” I said wondering if there would be a kid on the team like Alice who thought she was better than everybody else.
“Oh I need to call Lauren, ”I mumbled to myself.
“Huh?” Oh. I forgot that Hannah was still in the room.
“Um. I need to call Lauren and tell her the news.” I said sadly.
“Okay. Good luck! I already called Bailey and she was really shocked.”
Confused I asked “Wait when did you call her?”
“Oh. Last night while you were sound asleep.” Hannah replied. “Well you better call Lauren now”
“Yea.”
I walked out of the bedroom and into the T.V. room to the same spot where mom revealed the news. I pulled out my iPhone and scrolled down ho Lauren’s name, took a deep breath and hit talk. It rang five times before I heard Lauren’s energetic voice.
“Hey Alexis what’s up?”
“Hi Lauren” I said sadly.
“Alexis what’s wrong? Are you feeling okay?” She sounded concerned.
“Um yeah I’m okay but I have something to tell you” I said. I could feel a knot forming in my stomach.
“What is it? You know I’m always here for you,” Lauren replied sweetly. I could just picture her laying on her bed her laptop in front of her, the window open to Facebook and looking at the newest People magazine she had just gotten in the mail. I felt a tear roll down my cheek. Boy, was I going to miss her.
