Chapter 7
I was sitting at the kitchen counter eating a peanut butter sandwich for lunch. We still hadn’t gotten anything done today. We still had to go to the school and visit the Evans’.
I was dressed in my southern clothes: my jean shorts, tank-top from American Eagleand a light J. Crew sweater on top. Even though it was January, it was still warm out.
“Okay Lex. When you’re done eating we will head over to the school,” my mom said. She was doing the dishes and trying to help her mom out as much as possible around the house.
“I’m done,” I said. Butterflies were forming in my stomach about starting school here. Even though I was just going to school to get my schedule, I was still nervous.
“Okay let’s get going. Hannah please turn off your computer, we are going to go to the school.”
“Kay,” Hannah replied closing out of Facebook. She was having a harder time adjusting to Texas, since she is a junior; her whole life seems to revolve around friends.
We got in the car and headed off to Willow Falls High School.

The front door of the school closed behind me. We walked down the lobby hall and saw a sign that read: PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE. My mom knocked on the door and a tall-ish bald man opened the door.
“Hi. I’m Karen Everett and these are my daughters Hannah and Alexis. I believe you were expecting us today,” my mom said.
“Oh yes. Hello Karen, Hannah and Alexis. Schedules? Correct?” he said.
“Yes.”
“Come on in. I am Dr. Scott Sanchez, the principal and the main counselor at the school. If you ever have any questions, my door is always open.” He seemed like a nice trusted principal, much better than our one back in Boston. We shook his hand and then took a seat.
“You are a junior, correct?” He asked directing his question towards Hannah.
“Yea,” Hannah replied, she sounded nervous.
“Okay, I have your schedule right here. And I assume that these are the same classes you were taking in Boston. Am I correct?” Dr. Sanchez handed Hannah her schedule.
“Um….” Hannah said while reading over her schedule. “These are the same.”
“Okay. Great. Now Alexis you are a sophomore correct?”
“Yeah,” I said
“Okay here is your schedule. Are these the classes you took back in Boston?”
I skimmed over the paper “Yes,” I said.
“Well thank you so much for stopping by and I will see you girls on Monday,” Dr. Sanchez said.
“Thank you!” Hannah and I said at the same time.
When we got back home, I looked over my schedule again:
Period 1: Geometry
Period 2: English 2
Period 3: French 1
