Appearances Are Deceiving

As the bell rang, signaling the end of the first class period, many students stood up.

Their reason was obvious, they wanted to pledge their allegiance to someone who they believed would reign as the ruler of this class.

To no surprise, the majority of them moved to surround Sakayangi and Koenji.

Ryuuen also had a few people flock towards him, but I suppose his attitude hadn't touched favorably upon our classmates.

I didn't particularly care who won this bout, as long as they did so in an entertaining way.

Though still.... A crushing defeat would be quite boring, that's why Koenji worried me.

Looking around, I could see Kamakiri being true to his word. Instead of trying to suck up to someone, he simply stayed in his seat.

I can't say much though, since I'm doing the same. Thankfully no one seemed to pay attention to us.

I'd considered joining the student council today... but I'm not so sure that gaining such attention so soon would do me any good.

Short term entertainment is nothing but proof of mans greed.

That's why I would at the very least, wait. And let it ripen until it would be delicious.

"You kids seem to be quite lively today! I wonder what the special occasion is? Usually you're all quite sullen" Our teacher walked into the classroom

"That's because you've known us a grand total of 2 days" someone responded

"And I can already tell that you'll be my least favorite"

.....

"Sensei, I've been wondering this, but are you actually a graduated Demon Slayer?" Another student asked

"..... Yes?"

"Why was that a question?"

"I thought it was obvious"

.....

"Not really"

"Yeah, your personality kinda betrays the whole stereotype of Demon Slayers being strong and head fast"

"If that's what you think of Demon Slayer.... You're sorely mistaken"

....

"In any case, classes are about to start again, please return to your seats."

"Fufufu, that was quite the aura you emitted Sensei, could we have hit a sore spot?" Sakayangi asked

"It's unfortunate, but you won't get anymore information from me Sakayangi-chan"

"How sad, I'm sure I'll be able to do something about that soon though" she smiled ominously

"Hmm... even with your connection. I'd severely doubt it"

Connections?

"We'll see about that"

"Indeed we will, soon you'll realize how vast the world truly is" he spread his arms out

"And that goes for the rest of you children as well.... The world is much wider than you can hope to imagine, and you'll also find out that the light can't reach every corner of this planet..."

.....

"While we're on the topic, why don't we learn a bit about the history of this world" his aura changed back to its usual self

"Ehhh, but Sensei we already know this stuff"

"Perhaps, but it's still a part of your curriculum. Just think of it as a lesson to freshen up your mind then"

No one else complained about his decision, or rather, they couldn't. They realized that no matter how friendly he acted, he was still an official Demon Slayer, and a high ranking one at that.

"Let's start with the world before Demons invaded. In that age, technology bloomed and much of human civilization was advanced enough to not have to worry about daily necessities to survive-" he looked around at the class

"However, on September 5th, 2038, all electronics seemed to have completely stopped working. In less than a second, the entire world was shrouded in darkness"

"Communication between not only civilians, but also governments, became nearly impossible. Thus, inevitably, the people panicked."

"Riots, Murder, Looting. It's amazing to see how easily people revert back to their natural instincts of greed and survival."

"The governments tried to calm the people down, and attempted to ease their minds by telling the people it was simply a malfunction, or that it was a terrorist EMP that would soon be resolved. However, that failed to work. Many were quick to point out that if it was an EMP, then the government protected electric grids would still work, which they weren't."

"Everyone feared the worst, a giant Solar Flare completely killing off all electronics that required a micro chip. At least... they though that was the worst outcome"

"Three days later, September 8, the sky was painted in red across all 7 continents. Religious people began to claim it was the end of the world, while others simply shrugged it off as a side effect of the ozone layer being hit by the solar flare. Though they would soon find out how correct the religious ones were."

"While currently unproven, most believe that this red sky signaled the unleashing of The Demonic Seal."

"That's because, Six days after this event, creatures we now call Demons began to roam the earth."

"Truthfully, things have calmed down quite a bit in comparison to when the Demonic Seal was first released. When Demons were first discovered, their numbers reached into the hundreds of thousands, and normal weapons proved useless against them. That's the reason many countries ended up collapsing under them. Mexico, Portugal, France, India, and Canada; just to mention a few."

"Eventually, a group of people found that the Demons were weak to the sun, and humanity took advantage of this. While it was discovered early on, it took weeks for word to travel by foot, due to the lack of electronics."

"Upon hearing this, a Nomadic Tribe in Norway decided to test out a theory. They used metal from the peak of their mountains to make a blade. A blade that would soon...... change the course of history."
