Chat Noir always took the hits for Ladybug during their akuma battles. She never got hit. Or, at least, that's what he thought.
She had taken numerous hits time and time again. If Chat knew... well, he wouldn't be very happy with her. He felt that...
The four boarded the plane, all of them immediately noticing they weren't the first to arrive. Max, Kim, and Alix were all already on the plane in their respective seats. Max and Kim sat next to each other towards the front and Alix sat alone in the very back seat, headphones on and snoring loudly. The four walked passed Kim and Max and waved politely. Alya grabbed Ninos hand and dragged him into the center of the plane. She plopped down in the seat closest to the isle and let Nino scootch in to sit by the window. Marinette sat down in the isle seat next to Alya as Adrien awkwardly stood.
"Hey... Uh Mari, would you mind if I sat with you since Alya stole Nino?" Marinette giggled slightly and gestured to the seat next to hers.
"Of course Adrien. Why would I mind? You're my friend after all!" Adrien sat down next to Marinette closest to the window. After everything that had happen the previous night, Adrien had forgotten all about all about Marinette admitting to Alya she had the hots for his alter ego, Chat Noir. Adrien relaxed in his seat, there was still about an hour and a half before the plane took off towards their destination.
He took his phone from his back pocket and grabbed his bluetooth earbuds from his carry on bag. He put them in and grabbed his favorite book from his bag. It was 'The Fault In Our Stars' by John Green. It was one of his favorite books and it never failed to make him cry. He opened his lofi music playlist and put it on shuffle and started peacefully reading, ignoring the outside world.
Marinette eyed Adrien as he got comfortable next to her. She decided she might as well go ahead and do the same. She pulled out her wireless earbuds, ones similar to Adriens and propped her phone up on pull out table in front of her. She scrolled through her downloaded movie options and ended up picking Megamind, one of her all time favorite animated movies. She sat back against her seat as the the back story of Megamind and Metroman began playing.
Adrien was trying his best to focus on the book but for some reason his music and the words in his book were all just colliding together in his head. He closed the book and returned it to its respective spot in his bag. He removed his earbuds and put them back in their case. He laid his head back with his eyes closed for a mere few minutes. He checked his phone for the time, only 10 minutes had passed by. He set his phone down and sighed.
He looked over at Alya and Nino, the two of them taking a bunch of selfies together. He looked over to Marinette and then at her phone and was instantly captured by the movie playing on the small screen. He had never seen any animated films, when he was younger, maybe. But his father thought that watching movies that don't educate you are no good and a waste of time. Adrien didn't think that, he believed this movies were pure art and skill.
He stared at the movie a few seconds longer before he felt a tap on his wrist. He looked up to see Marinette staring at him, one of her earbuds held out towards him.
"You wanna watch with me?" He nodded and accepted the earbud. Marinette pushed the phone more towards his way so they both could equally share the screen. Adrien could not stop laughing at the stupid humor was that laced through the movie. Both him and Marinette lost themselves every time a pun was made or Megamind mispronounced a word.
Another hour and fifteen minutes and the movie was almost over and it was a mere few minutes until take off. Marinette paused the movie as one of the flight attendants stood up at the front of the plane, trying to catch everyones attention, which wasn't hard considering everyone was decently quiet.
"Hello passengers. please buckle up your seatbelts and secure your items for take off. Once we are at the max altitude, you're welcome to roam the plane. This clock right here will count down the minutes until we take off." The nicely dressed woman pointed a clock above her. The clock read 4:34. About 4 minutes until take off. Adrien looked over to Marinette and smiled.
"You ready?" He asked her. Marinette gave him a nervous chuckle.
"I've honestly never been on a plane in my life.... kinda of scared really." Adriens jaw dropped.
"So you're telling me that you've never been on a plane. Like ever?" Marinette shrugged and shook her head.
"Sure haven't. But hey, it's fine really." Adrien nodded and continued on.
"It's not that bad Mari. You'll get over it pretty quick. You're ears will hate it for a bit, but just chew some gum when we take off. Then we can get up and walk around. Apparently, there's like a hangout section towards the back of the plane if you wanna go there. I think that would be super cool." Marinette smiled and agreed.
Typically, her and Adrien conversing like this would've made her blush and stutter to no end. But now that she has what she has with Chat Noir, she's simply no longer interested in Adrien in a romantic way like she did before. Her loyalty now lied with Chat Noir, Paris' hero. Marinette was nothing but happy with the way her life was currently going. She had nothing to worry or complain about.
"I like that idea, we can do some exploring!" Adrien laughed and glanced up at the clock. 2:14. Adrien dug through his bag, pulling out his favorite spearmint gum and handed and stick it to Marinette.
"Here. Whenever we take off, start chewing this. Trust me, you won't regret it." She grinned and gladly accepted the gum. Adrien checked his social media, as usual, blowing with comments and like. He turned to Marinette in a quick second.
"Can we take a picture to post on my instagram?"Marinette froze before meeting his eyes. She shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't see why not." Adrien grinned brightly and opened his snapchat, realizing he had an unopened snap from Nino. He slid back over to his camera and picked his favorite filter. It was a filter that added freckles and two black hearts on your cheeks. He held the camera into position, posed, and snapped the picture. Adrien help his phone in front of him and beamed at it. He went to his instagram and typed in her '@' and then added a caption, "On our way to Hawaii for our class trip! :)"
"And~ posted!" He grinned at Marinette. Within 40 seconds, the post had blown up and Marinette had an unimaginable amount of new followers and DMs.
"Alright, time for the gum." Both of them popped their pieces in their mouths as the plane began its take off.
Now for the next 16 hours, the class from Paris would be secluded in the sky, 30,000 feet above the world.
