[The Night before]
Karma's pov:
"Tell us what happened in the woods Mr.Akabane," I watched as they escorted the others out of the room so they couldn't hear the conversation. It was now just me and the head counselor in the room, the silence was becoming louder by the second so I answered."Well our rafts got stuck on the rocks in the river and we were stuck," "Why didn't you wait for assistance?"
"Well, see nobody was coming to help us. We sat there for a good 20 minutes before deciding to take matters into our own hands." I saw the expression on her face twist into one of annoyance at my words, "by going into those woods you could have been killed!" "Yeah and we almost were," I stated crossing my arms.
I'm not an idiot, I'm fully aware of the danger we were in you dumbass..
"Continue the story..." She said breaking my train of thought, why should I you hag... I cleared my throat before answering.
"We swam to a staircase that was near the rocks, and we climbed up it onto the trail then-" "What did you say?" I glanced at her "we swam over to a staircase that was-" She cut me off yet again, "Mr.Akabane..."
"Theres no staircases like you speak of at this camp."
"What?"
[Current time]
Everything from the past day swarmed through my head, I couldn't stop thinking about it. Better yet, now we have a new issue to deal with! Aka, the beloved...Daichi. His Raven hair blew in the wind as we walked back from zip-lining, Gakushuu and the others needed to pack up more and clean their materials.
So it was just me and Daichi.
He decided it was a good idea to talk to me.
"It's Karma right?" I avoided glancing at the boy even once. Something was still insanely off...
"Yeah." I answer coldly before walking faster, I honestly didn't have the energy to deal with this bitch today. I mean he hasn't actually done anything to me, but my gut feeling is bad. I've learned to trust my gut when it comes to people, seeing as it most times doesn't lead me wrong.
I didn't respond to any of his next questions, I hated the awkwardness. Luckily Nagisa came along to unknowingly to his knowledge, save me. "Hey Karma want to go buy a snack at the food stand and go to the pool with me and Kayano?" I spared a glance at Daichi then quickly agreed.
At the snack stand I bought a small box of strawberry pocky, we all ate our snacks sitting at a picnic table by the lake. In the distance I saw Gakushuu talking to Daichi, for some reason this made me feel...jealous... Am I just overreacting to that bitch Daichi..?
I chomped my pocky a bit aggressively and clinched my fist, "Karma you good?" Kayano asked tilting her head slightly. "Yep," I put on a smile and continued snacking, still occasionally taking at glance to see what Gakushuu was up to. It seemed now he was playing soccer with Ren and DaichiI realized was nowhere to be seen.
"Hey guys I hope you don't mind me sitting here!" I looked to the empty see on my right and lone behold, it was the dreaded Daich. I wanted to practically yell "GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!" but just clincher my fists more. "Hello! ofc not!" Kayano said smiling softly, Nagisa hummed in agreement and continued eating some gummies he had boughten. I took a deep breath and put my pocky away, "Nagisa I just remembered I was going to hang out with Asano today."
The look of shock on my friends faces is one I will NEVER forget. I quickly made my way over to Gakushuu and Ren who were still playing soccer, not giving my friends time to question my sudden actions. "What do you want?" Gakushuu stated as he kicked the soccer ball up into his hands.
"Remember when I said that everytime I come to you I don't always need something?" The strawberry blonde shot a glare at me, but i continued.
"Welp, this is not one of those times" I saw a bit of confusion on both the strawberry blonde and the brunette's faces. "Then what DO you need?" The brunette asked looking me up ans down, "look this is embarrassing for me too but...I need to hang out with you dudes today."
"You, ...What?" They both asked almost in sync, "and why exactly can't you hang out with your other friends?" Gakushuu asked tilting his head, "Wait is it because of Daichi?" I stayed silent for awhile not wanting to give a straight answer. "I don't see why you don't like him but we were going to the pool," Gakushuu said looking up.
I then had to explain to them that's where Nagisa and Kayano were headed meaning Daichi would probably show up aswell. I just have a really bad feeling about him, I'm not even sure why. Eventually, I got them to both agree to playing volleyball by the lake. Okay maybe I should stop rewatching 'Haikyu!!' before this becomes an issue. We made our way down there after getting a volleyball from the camp sports shed.
(A/N: DON'T WE ALL HAVE THAT ISSUE WITH HAIKYU?!😭 Or just me? 😅)
Gakushuu's pov:
Akabane was acting strange today, I'm not quite sure why.
What does he even have against that Daichi kid? I suppose when I think about it he probably was just exhausted from yesterday and sleep deprived, causing him to overreact.
My thoughts were suddenly interrupted as I felt the volleyball collide with my face and I fell flat on my ass in the sand. "PFTTTT-" I heard Karma spit out before laughing thoroughly at me. "Are you okay?" Ren said and laughed a bit as he spoke, "I'm just FINE.." I stated putting extra emphasis on the word "fine" I got up out of the sand and tried desperately to get the sand off my pants to no avail.
I picked up a small rock and threw it at Karma. "Oh you're so on!" exclaimed the giggling red head. "Wait what??" Before I could comprehend the situation, Karma had started throwing small rocks at me through the volleyball net. "Cut it out!" I exclaim letting out a small laugh.
I haven't had this much fun in years...wow...
"Gakushuu Asano?" I turner around and faced the counselor that had called my name. "Your father wants to speak with you," I felt my spirits plummet and a lump in my throat at those words. Shit did he find out this isn't a study camp...Do I have to be sent home? Did something happen at home? I got lost in my thoughts and almost forgot to follow the counselor into the office, so I hustled to follow.
I sat in one of the chairs then grabbed the phone then began, dialing my father's number.
"Hello? Father?"
"Gakushuu."
"How can I help you, Father?" I said trying not to sound the slightest it nervous, but in reality my hands were actually trembling.
"I'm calling you to inform that buttons passed away this morning. Thought you would want to know."
(If you don't remember, that's the name of Gakushuu's cat! *In chapter 2*)
"Oh-" I was sad of course, but somewhat relieved he hadn't figured out my study camp lie just yet. I sighed and said "Thank you" before hanging up the phone.
