Hey guys! This is my first Disney-fic! I hope you all like it and as I mentioned before... I don't own The Haunted Mansion.. Disney owns everything except my characters I created. Also, if you haven't heard Otherworldly Concerto yet I highly recommend listening to it. The organ music inspired this whole thing. :-)
Enjoy!

My Halloween was different than the usual "I went trick or treating!" Or "I made out with my girlfriend in her car after a Halloween party."

Nope, mine wasn't like any of those.

My Halloween got interesting.. All because of a dare.

•••

I should have stopped the dare game before it had even started.

"So, what do you guys wanna do tonight?" asked James. He was a tall guy, with red hair and blue eyes. His eyes matched his costumes color. My friends and I did a group theme this year. Everybody was dressed in the style of the southern/Antebellum era. Everybody except Katie.. She didn't get the memo...

My friends and I all thought and pondered.. It was Halloween after all.

Katie chimed up. "I brought a Ouija board." She smirks at the rest of us. "What a better way than to channel our costumes characters then to raise up some of the dead?"

"You idiot." Said Jeffery. "With Ouija boards you don't raise the dead, that's how you talk to the dead. If you wanna cause some chaos then you break the circle. And I seriously don't recommend that."

"Guys... I don't think that doing Ouija is a good idea.." Jane said, scared. She was wearing a pink gown similar to Charlene's. Theirs both had pearls and lace; but Charlene's dress was blue.

"What's the matter?" Katie taunted. "Are you scared?"

"No..." Jane looked scared. She played with her fan prop that was in her lap. "Let's just play truth or dare."

Everybody nodded. Including me. I don't like spirits very much. I only believe in good spirits.

Katie looked mad that her game wasn't selected. But, oh well. There's always later in the night.. Right?'

I should have stopped the game right there.

But no, I let Charlene tell her feelings to James, I got Katie dumped, how could this night have gotten worse?

Oh, right. It's what Katie dared ME. I screwed up her love life up so she dares me the worst thing she could have.

For me to go in that old haunted house on a hill. The sun was setting once we got in the car, but now as we neared the mansion, it was night.

"The Haunted Mansion." Katie said as we drove through its boggy swamp.

"Here's the deal." Katie says, looking at me in the passenger seat. "Stay in the mansion for thirty minutes, bring something out as proof."

I raise my eyebrows at her. "Is that all?"

"Pretty much." Katie says, looking at her watch then looking to me. Her face going sour as she sees my dress, she was hardly in her costume.. Whatever Katie's theme was.

"In that dress, you'll fit right in." She rolls her eyes.

I had a thing for dressing in old time-y clothes... This year, I was wearing an old ball gown. The ball gown was a deep blue, but I had added layers of tule to the under-skirt to give it some pluff. My naturally blonde hair had been pulled back and curled.

The old swamps rotting trees thinned out to see the fading facade of the old mansion. It looked very run down.

"What's the time?" I ask.

"8:13"

The road changes. It goes from dirt to gravel. The landscape also changes. The rotting oaks of the swamp are strewn near the gates. Some have fallen, some standing upright.

I sigh.

"What? It's not like ghosts exist or anything." Katie says. "We tried to do Ouija but Jane chickened out."
Then she added, "Well, then again Jane is a wimp."

I furrowed my brows at what she said. "Hey, don't talk about Jane like that."

"That makes you one tooooo!" Katie said in a sing-songy voice.

"Whatever, Katie." I snap.

I picked up my skirts and got out of the car. I walked to the gates of the mansion. I touched the old, black gates and they squeaked immediately.

I looked back at the car and I see Katie raise her eyebrows at me.

I take in a deep breath, and push the gates open, I begin walking toward the infamous "Haunted Mansion".
