Gracey and Genevieve ran down the hallway and down the stairs.
Genevieve was gasping for air by the time she got to the ballrooms floor.
This was the worst time to wear a corset, she thought. I HAD to choose the dress with the actual corset..
But Gracey urged her to come back to the stairs. She didn't feel like climbing all of those stairs again, so Gen stood at the bottom of the stairs.
"What?" Genevieve breathed. She looked up at him, he looked physically scared and even more pale than usual.
"I can't come down." He said. "There's hunters here. Hunters that exterminate ghosts."
I furrow my eyebrows, I was confused.
Gracey lifted his hands as if he was conducting an orchestra and suddenly, everything ceased. The ghosts-once twirling and swirling-are gone. The organ music was cut off abruptly. The ballroom turned dark. But the lights stayed on.
I turned around to walk toward the organ but I saw Gracey directly in front of me.
"Gracey." I whispered.
He looked at me pityingly. "My lady, I am truly sorry."
"For what?" I asked.
"For this." He touched her forehead with two fingers and I passed out.

Gracey POVHe really wished he didn't have to do that.
Genevieve slumped into his arms and he eased her and himself onto the floor. He put Genevieves limp form in his lap. She wasn't dead, she was just sleeping. She looked heavenly when she was sleeping. He wishes she could stay here-- forever.
But she can't.
He sighed and slipped off his ring from Genevieve's finger and gave her a fake. He then returned her magical picture device to her dresses pocket and also a note.
He caresses her cheek and whispered sadly, "Oh duchess."
He slid her onto the floor.
He stood up and waved his hand around. Everything stopped. The lights went out, he made the mansion look how it really was- Years old and crumbling.
There was a hole in the ballrooms ceiling that shed just the right amount of moon light so you can spy Genevieve on the floor.
He waved his hands again, and made himself invisible.

5 minutes later
----"Gen!" Jeffery yelled. "Gen!" He had his axe out, ready to strike.
They had just come from the second portrait room, where they had discovered Katie's dead body hanging from the ceiling with her throat slit. James and Jeffery's shoes were stained with blood.
They had found Gen about five minutes later.
She was on the floor, in a once beautiful but now decaying ballroom. She looked like she had just woken up.
"Boys? James, Jeffery?" She asked. "What are you doing here?"
"Come on, we have to go now." Jeffery urged, he threw his axe into the wall as he tried to help Genevieve up. "Can I get some help, man?"
James was a crying mess. When he saw Katie hanging there with her blood dripping, it really messed him up.
James nodded sadly and helped Jeffery lift Genevieve up by her armpits.
Genevieve stood shakily. She looked around in new awe. "I don't remember it being like this."
"Look, tell us about it in the car. We've got to go." Jeffery told her. They each started running, but Genevieve was more or less limping. Then, she suddenly remembered everything.
"W-Wait! I've got the proof to show Katie!" She flaunted her ring like she was perfect.
Just the mention of Katie made James stop in his tracks. "Katie's dead!" He yelled.
This now made everybody stop.
"What?" Genevieve whispered. "He wouldn't-"
"James, come on... We don't have time for this.." Jeffery urged.
James ignored Jeffery, and instead looked at Genevieve, who stared at him. "Who? The Master?! The master is a sick, human being. May he rot down in--" James started yelling, but stopped abruptly. The whole house started shaking violently.
They all looked up at the ceiling.
"James!" Jeffery yelled. "You-" at this time, the house started rumbling so loudly that hardly anybody could make out any other words Jeffery said. But what they did hear was, "- idiot!" Jeffery grabbed both of their hands and started to run, pulling them along.
Genevieve looked up at the ceiling. "He doesn't mean it. He doesn't mean it." She repeated, trying to tell Gracey.
But he doesn't listen.

Gracey POVGracey, contrary to his guest and uninvited ones, was fuming.
He was in his room and heard the entire conversation. How dare he. How DARE he! This was Gracey's house, not this "James' ". He will make his house crush them like gnats. Like the bugs they are.
And then, Genevieve can stay-- forever. Just like he wants.
