"Sit down, make yourself comfortable."
I smiled as I entered Edith's living room. She pulled me towards a small wooden cabin earlier, telling me she lives here.
I sat down on the couch and she came back into the room with a glass of water for me, the bottle I took with me earlier still in her hand as she took another sip.
I wondered what was so special about that drink anyways.
I felt comfortable as the feeling of being watched disappeared, I relaxed back into the soft couch.
"Why do you like that drink so much?" I chuckled, deciding to ask.
She stared at the bottle for a bit before replying.
"Have you ever been to town, Y/n?"
I raised my brow, realizing which town she meant.
"Once. I've been there once. Why?"
The corner of her lip curved up in a small smile, "There's a shop there, that would remind you a lot of The Three Trees, actually. It's funny, the only reason it does is because that shop has a drink there that tastes a lot like this one." She told me, putting the bottle on the table in front of her.
"Of course it can't compare to the real thing, that world has unique tastes, but it gives me flashbacks of being there. I like the way it reminds me."
I raised my brows, not expecting that.
I laughed as I tried to crack a joke, "You are putting it like you are banned from that place or something! If you like it so much, why won't you just go back there to get that drink?"
I quieted down as I realized she wasn't laughing. Instead, she was staring at me all seriously and I gulped, she looked so intimidating.
"That's because I am. I am not allowed to go back there. And second of all, I am not powerful enough to go there.."
For some reason I felt like she was lying. I felt like she wasn't telling me the entire truth. I did believe the first thing, but for some reason I just didn't believe the second. Her whole actions told me differently.
The aura in the room changed and I bluntly said, "Why do I feel like you're lying to me?"
I looked her in her eyes and they showed a glint, a mischievous smile dancing on her lips.
"Because I am."
I once again raised my brow, "Look, I really need your help, Edith. I understand if you don't want to help me, but then at least, tell me how to find another witch who does want to help me. I have to go back. It's unbelievably important."
She stood up without a word, grabbing my now empty glass of water and the bottle. She disappeared around the corner and then came back empty handed.
"Alright, I will help you. But I can not go with you to protect you, if they see me there I am dead. Literally. Then it doesn't matter I am a witch. Compared to them, I am nothing."
She wasn't specific about 'them', but I knew who she was talking about. I had to pretend I didn't, she spat 'them' with so much venom I was sure she wouldn't want to help me once she knew why I wanted to go back there in the first place.
So, I innocently asked, "Them?"
She stared me in my eyes, I had trouble with the act because of how intimidating she seemed.
She was the total opposite of Helen.
"Them, as in The Seven. I don't know if you've heard of them. I don't know why you want to go back and how you've gotten in their world in the first place without getting caught by them. They rule, they are the most powerful 7 vampires to ever exist. They can wipe you out in a fingersnap."
