Remi:

Tuesday, May 7th

I skim through my worn-out copy of National Geographic again, trying to pass the time while I waited for Alec. He should be home by now, he said the staff party would only last until 7:30, but he hasn't come home yet. I tried calling and texting him earlier but he hasn't replied and Briana isn't replying either. Despite her saying beforehand that she would text me if they were going to be stuck late or something like that.

I know I shouldn't be but I'm worried about Alec. I know how Andrew and his friends will always try to rope him into stuff and he feels like he can't say no and will end up going along with it. I just want to make sure he's getting forced to do anything that might stress him out or anything. God knows he already gets enough of that from all the customers who yell at him for random crap.

Maybe I should text him again, just to see if he would reply. It wouldn't hurt and if he does reply, I can make sure he's okay and not drunk or helping Andrew with another one of his schemes again. I pull my phone off the nightstand and open the stream of messages I sent him earlier. I start to type in a message that makes me sound like a worried housewife, which I pretty much am, but pause when I get a message from Alec: I'm home sweetie!

That's a little happier than usual. Most of his texts are pretty terse and he doesn't really ever use any pet names for me, I mean except for the nicknames I got in college when we first met. Maybe he's just trying something out? Well, either way, I should go out and welcome him back home before I scold him a little. I don't mean to be possessive but knowing how complacent he is, I need to keep a few tabs on him. Just to make sure he's safe.

I set my phone back on the nightstand and then roll out of bed and walk down the stairs to the living room. The second floor of our apartment is a loft with just railing along the edge, so I can hear Alec stumbling through the kitchen before I even get to the bottom of the stairs. Is he drunk? That would explain why he's coming home later than he said and is calling me 'sweetie' now.

Now I'm going to have to deal with a drunk Alec, that's just great. Alec's not exactly annoying when he's drunk but he is a little hard to handle. He gets all sweet and flirty and will usually refuse to do anything I say unless it's cuddling or kissing. It can be really cute and sweet but I want to go to sleep right now, not deal with my flirty drunk boyfriend.

Okay, just breathe and remember what you did last time. I think I kissed that spot behind his ear that makes him get all flustered and that embarrassed him so much that he just went to bed. I'm pretty sure that will work again and if it doesn't I'll just give him one of the melatonin supplements we have in the bathroom. Those usually put him to sleep pretty quick.

I glance over at the hallway, which has gotten suddenly quiet, and then prepare myself for the adorable drunk I'm going to find. After I give myself a couple of minutes of mental preparation and remind myself that no matter how cute Alec is I have to get him to bed, I walk over to the hallway and peek in. Alec's sitting against the bathroom door, his eyes all glazed over and hiccupping and giggling like he'd just been told the funniest story in the world.

Oh God, it's worse than I thought. Alec must have noticed me by now because he whipped his head towards me and squealed," Remi, it's you!" He leaped up and wobbly made his way over to me, wrapping his arms tightly around my shoulders once he got to me. I went to grab his arms off me but quickly had to slide them under his butt to support him since his legs decided to give out.

Jeez, how much alcohol did he have? Alec's a real lightweight, so I know that it doesn't take a lot of alcohol to get him drunk, like only a couple beers, but he's always been able to stand up when he's drunk albeit swaying. Maybe Briana convinced him to drink; she does love a good beer. No, she knows Alec is a lightweight and how he gets when he's drunk; she's not that cruel.
