Monday, May 21st

Oh fuck, this is really happening! It's Remi and mine's anniversary, the day I've been waiting for for months, and I'm going to fucking propose! God, it feels like the time just flew by; first I was just trying to think of a surprise, then I was thinking about marriage, then I was picking out a ring and now I'm getting ready to propose. Yeah, time's really passed me by. But it's not like it was a bad thing, I really enjoyed those two weeks aside from Katrina and the realization that I'd been acting like a piece of shit for several years. It was great.

"Hey Alec, quit making googly eyes and help me set up some of these candles!" Briana yells at me while waving one of the fake candles at me. "Yeah sorry, I'll help." This morning she, Andrea, and Lucky barged over to help set up the decorations, uninvited, but it's fine by me since it's going to take a shit ton of time, especially considering the extra candles I had to buy. Apparently, the article I looked at that said how many candles were used in the Friends proposal was completely wrong, so I had to order a hundred more candles. The extra money I had to spend didn't bother me that much since they were kind of cheap, it was more just about the fact that there was going to be even more fucking work to do.

"Alec! Are you gonna come help or not?" Briana yells at me as I snap out of my daydream. "Oh shit, yeah!" I walk over to the window where she's setting some candles on the edge while I mentally berate myself for spacing off again. God, that seems to be the only thing I can do today. This morning when I woke up, all I did until it was actually time to get up was daydream about standing at the altar with Remi and saying that I take him as my husband. That eventually stopped when he woke up and asked me why I was smiling at the lamp like I was high.

"So did you want to talk or something?" I ask Briana as I kneel down next to her and grab a couple of candles out of the box sitting to her right. She sets the candle she was holding on the ledge and asks, "Yeah, I was just wondering if you know when Remi gets back." Oh shit, I should have asked him that. Earlier, when they got here to help with decorating and stuff, I had to find a way to get Remi out of the apartment and keep him gone long enough for us to finish setting up everything. Luckily, his work friends Shayne and Roxxane called right after the others got here, so I convinced him to go with them.

He was not happy about it; he kept asking me what the others were doing here, why he needed to go out with Roxanne and Shayne, and stuff like that. Briana really saved me there and said that we're getting something special ready for today, though the way she said it made it sound like I was going to try on lingerie or something like that. "No, he didn't say anything about that but I think he'll probably be back around five since he said they're going to walk around Central Park for the day." And luckily, Central Park is full of shit to do so they'll definitely be gone for several hours. Plus, I heard Roxanne shout over the phone that they're going to stay there until at least three o'clock.

"Ok great, it's two now so we should have a good three more hours to finish everything up," she chirps with a weird amount of excitement in her voice. Guess she's more interested in this than she lets on. I mean, she's always freaked out whenever I mentioned marriage and Remi's name in the same sentence but she's also always acted like it was just because she's my friend and not because she's genuinely excited about it. "So is there anything else you wanted to talk about?" Besides when Remi's going to get back, I think we have everything else covered; the majority of the candles are set out, the ring is safe in its box on the coffee table and we're going to start laying out the petals, which may take a while since we have to pick the petals off of the roses. I asked the flower shop about just sending me a couple of big boxes of rose petals but they said their employees don't have the time to pick petals off of roses, which is understandable, so I guess it's up to us now.
