Be Mine Forever

Chapter Nine

Remi: 

Monday, May 13th

"So then I said,' Why the fuck would you do that?' Like it was completely stupid!" Shayne laughs. Roxxie and me both fall against the table laughing too, clutching our stomachs in pain. "Shit man, he really did that?!" Roxxie asks as she tries to sit up from the table. It's kinda pointless since she just starts laughing and falls against it again. "Yeah and then he asked me afterward what I thought was so stupid about it!"

"God, he's a dumbass!" I giggle-yell against the table. We're talking about Ollie, another model here, and his bright idea to see if wild raccoons are actually dangerous by finding one and letting it get close to him. Luckily the one he found didn't care about him and it just walked right past him, but dear God, I've never heard an idea that stupid in forever! Everybody knows that most raccoons aren't big people fans or the nice type of animal.

"I hope if he does that again, he gets bit. He deserves it for being such a dumbass!" Roxxie says as she finally sits up from the table. She's another model here like Shayne, both of them mostly just doing lingerie-type stuff, and are some of my only friends. Well, aside from Briana kind of. We don't really hang out much outside of work, like we have each other's phone numbers, but that's just not our thing. Which is fine by me since I kind of like being by myself. Being around people a bit every day feels nice but I'd prefer to be by myself most of the time and these two seem to feel the same way.

"You listening Remi?" Shayne asks, giving my foot a nudge with his. I take a deep breath, my stomach hurting like hell, and reply back," Just spacing off, so what'd you say?"

"I was asking you about your and Alec's anniversary. It's coming up soon, right?" He glances at the calendar for the date and then looks back over at me. "Uh yeah? But why're you asking about that?" I've already told them the general overview of what I'm doing and everything, so why do we need to talk about it again? "Well, I was just wondering if you're going to, you know..." He trails off and then looks over at Roxxie, raising his eyebrows at her and gesturing with his head at me. What're they doing? Is this some secret code? I glance over at Roxxie too but she seems to have picked up on whatever secret message that Shanye was telling her.

"So are you.. going to.. propose to Alec?" she asks. "Oh, uh, what?" I look between the two of them in pretty much complete disbelief and confusion. What are they talking about? I've never mentioned proposing to Alec to them, like never. So why are they bringing it up? Do they think I should? Did they hear a rumor or something from someone else? "What, what're you talking about? I've never talked about proposing to Alec."

"Well, you did say that you wanted to be with him forever when you were telling us about your plans..." Roxxie says with a glance over at Shayne. He gives her another look, more secret code I'm guessing, and then asks me," That's basically saying that you want to marry him right?"

"But it's not like- I mean I've never... That's crazy!" I glance between the two of them and then rest my head on the table. Everything hurts and is spinning and this is just too much. Marriage? That's just.. not on the table, we've never even talked about it seriously except that one time a few days ago! "But don't you want to be with him forever? Marriage would probably be the best option for that," Shayne says with more concern than I've ever seen him show before. Not to knock him or anything, he's just kind of self-centered sometimes.

I start bouncing my leg and lift my head up from the table. Both of them are right, I did say that I wanted to be with Alec forever and marriage would be the best option for that. And being married to Alec doesn't sound like the worst thing in the world but... "I don't know, I'll just have to thin-" Bbbrrriiinnnggg! My phone starts ringing in my pocket, the ringtone still that super annoying, high-pitched one. I need to change that later, it's going to make my ears bleed. I grab my phone out of my pocket and then stand up out of my chair.
