"So Asher doesn't know you play esports?" demanded Bree, at our practice that Saturday.

"Yeah. You guys better not tell him," I said, worried.

Elijah sunk into his cushioned chair. "Is it really a good idea to lie to him about this?"

"Yes. He said he doesn't like it. That it's a waste of time," I responded.

"So he's a waste of your time," Bree retorted.

I gaped at her. "Hold on, we can't forget that this was your idea. To mess with Dixie's head or something."

"Yeah, but how long are you going to hang out with him? You've done your job. Ragged Puppets lost the day Dixie saw you with Asher. We know that part of the plan works," Bree argued.

"Why can't you be happy for me? I found someone I like."

"Guys, cool it. We have to log on in a few minutes," Dani piped up.

"Yes, thanks for the reminder. At least you have your head in the game." Bree swung her chair to face the monitor.

"What is that suppose to mean?" I asked, angrily.

Elijah shook his head at me. "Not now."

Ugh. Why was everyone ganging up on me?

We logged onto the Maze Map game and pressed 'Play'.

"Go, go, go! Behind you!" Bree hollered at me.

"I see it. I got it," I shouted back. Five minutes later, the words 'LOST' flashed on the screen. I threw my mouse across the table in frustration.

"Ugh. It's okay, it's okay. We'll get them next game," Dani said confidently.

Without saying anything, Bree set us up for a new round. When I saw who we were against, I freaked out.

"Dixie's team? We're not ready, we've never even played on this terrain!"

"Well, we have to. It could be in the tournament," replied Bree.

Elijah sighed, "Let's just go for it."

"We should change up our strategy. I'm sure they're going to try and distract us from our plan and we can't let them," Bree said. The three minutes left until game time started to count down.

"Let's stick to what we practiced," I answered, focusing on the screen.

Bree added, "But Dixie knows exactly how you operate under pressure."

I looked at her, narrowing my eyes. "I can't believe you're suggesting for us to change our tactic minutes before the game starts."

"I'm just suggesting we try something different," she retorted.

Dani put her palm on her forehead. "Guys, can we not do this right now? I'm getting confused."

"Daniella's right. Let's just stick with Lissie's strategy today," Elijah put in.

Bree groaned. "Of course you would take their side. Also, her name's Dani. I thought you would realize by now."

Elijah put his hands up in protest while Dani gave Dixie a confused look.

"Whatever, guys," I said. "Time's running out. Focus."

We were halfway in the game when Dixie's team started to attack our base.

"She's going sidelane. Move, Lissie!" Bree yelped when she noticed Dixie right beside my player.

"One shot, one shot! Push!" Dani called out.

"Wait!" Elijah piped up.

From beside me, Bree threw her mouse and pushed the keyboard away from her.

"Great, I'm dead."
