"Daniella and I didn't even do anything," Elijah argued.
"I said, out!" I screamed. Nobody moved. "Fine, I'll go. I'm sick of this. I thought you had my back, Bree. But all along, you've been waiting to get back into Ragged Puppets."
"That is not true. I'm the leader of Subsonic Cobras. This team. Why would I want to rejoin Dixie's team, of all people."
"I don't know. Ask yourself," I yelled. "You clearly want to." With that, I slammed the door and hurried up the stairs to the main floor, then second, of my house. I flopped onto my bed and cried.
Cried, and cried, and cried. Nobody came to me. I heard the front door close earlier. They had all left. I pulled out my phone and saw a message from Asher. It read "Come over. Got a new basketball." I washed my face and headed over to the house beside mine. Asher was on his driveway, practicing layouts.
"Hey, what's the bet of the day?" I asked.
"You know what I want. You said no," he remarked.
"What if I changed my mind? Ask me again." I threw the ball into his stomach area.
"Okay, okay," Asher blushed, which made him ten times cuter. "Lissie La Salle, will you go to the dance with me?"
I cracked a smile. "I will." All of a sudden, his hand reached behind my neck and he started to pull me towards him. Our lips met slowly and I felt like I was going to die. Right then and there.
Oh. My. Gosh. I was kissing Asher Anderson.
When he pulled away, I couldn't bring myself to look at him.
"Come on, I'll buy you ice cream if you win," he teased. I laughed and ran towards him, trying to grab the ball. All of a sudden, he stopped. I followed his gaze and my mouth fell open in shock.
Elijah. He was standing on the sidewalk, watching us.
"Oh, hi!" I waved, deliriously. Asher gazed at me.
"Hey," Elijah said. He seemed a little awkward, until I realized why.
Did he... witness the kiss? No, please, no. That's so embarrassing.
"What are you doing here?" Asher wanted to know.
Elijah shrugged. "I was going to check on Lissie."
Asher put his arm around my shoulder protectively. "I think I can take care of my girlfriend by myself. See you."
Girlfriend!? AHHHHHH!
