Serena's fragile form shook with terror as she found herself trapped in the clutches of a recurring nightmare, the flames of a distant tragedy searing through her mind. Startled awake by her daughter's distress, Grace swiftly turned on a soft bed lamp, casting a warm glow to comfort Serena.

With tears streaming down her cheeks, Serena clung to her mother, seeking solace from the haunting images that refused to release their grip on her psyche.

"What's troubling you, my dear? Another nightmare?" Grace's voice was gentle, her hand tenderly soothing Serena's trembling form.

With a single nod, Serena confirmed the source of her anguish, unable to put her torment into words. Her mother's understanding gaze spoke volumes, and Grace knew how deeply these night terrors were affecting her daughter.

"Serena, remember, I am here for you. Have you taken your medication?" Grace asked, concern etched on her face.

Serena's response was a weak shake of her head, signaling that she had not taken the prescribed pills.

Sighing softly, Grace reassured her, "It's okay, sweetheart. Let me get them for you. Take the pill, and it will help you find some peace."

Serena released her grip, and her mother rushed to fetch the medication and a glass of water. Returning with the small relief in her hand, Grace watched as Serena swallowed it with trembling hands.

As the medication began to take effect, Serena's sobs subsided, and a sense of calm gradually washed over her. Clinging to her mother, she finally drifted into a deep, peaceful slumber, grateful for the presence of the one person who understood and comforted her through these relentless nightmares.

However, as Serena slept, her mind wandered back to the devastating day that had shattered her world – the fateful event that had changed everything. The memory was like an unyielding specter, reminding her of the once-vibrant life she had cherished, now lost to the abyss of her shattered dreams.

The hero of the world, Ash, once so full of dreams and boundless energy, had faced an unthinkable tragedy, leaving him broken and scarred. Serena, who had admired and loved him deeply, felt her heart break each time she recalled the events of that fateful day.

With her Pokemon sent away and her dreams extinguished, Serena clung to her mother, the last beacon of light in her darkened world. Together, they faced the aftermath of destruction, with Serena's struggle to overcome the relentless nightmares and find hope once again.

Flashback-Serena's Pov

Ash had called me, sharing the news of his triumphant victory in the Alola League, becoming the Champion. I rejoiced in his accomplishment, yet couldn't help but feel a touch of sorrow for myself. Regardless, there was no time to linger on my emotions as he invited me to join him and our other friends in Pallet Town to celebrate. I assured him of my presence and promptly obtained my mother's consent before booking a flight that very night. My destination: Kanto, with a mere two dresses and my faithful Pokemon as companions.

Upon arriving at Vermilion City Airport, I decided to continue the journey on foot, eager to see how Pallet Town may have transformed over time. On my way, I encountered an intriguing sight—a man in a green overcoat walking the same path. We exchanged introductions, and I learned that his name was Brock, a Pokemon Doctor and a dear friend of Ash, who was also invited to the gathering. Engaging in extensive conversations, we shared stories and fond memories of Ash's adventures.

As we proceeded, an imposing Air Ship passed overhead, only to vanish from view using some kind of cloaking technology. The curious occurrence briefly puzzled me, but I set it aside, focusing on reaching Pallet Town.
