Chapter 17: Little Mr Verena
A ring suddenly erupted a groaning Nami, she looks to her left to see her apartment bell had rung, and she checks the time to see it was 6:45 am.
She opens the door to see who it was, and there stood the receptionist of the apartment. A very familiar person was smiling down at her.
"Ms Seo, this person had requested your number, and if you want him out, I can –"before the receptionist could say anything else. Nami drags Wonwoo inside; she locks the door.
He's crazy. Nami swears that he's out of his mind. How could Wonwoo stroll inside the apartment? He was only wearing his mask and hat; the glasses he used to wear completed his clothes. If you were not familiar with K-pop, then you might not know who he was. Still, after reaching about SEVENTEEN last night, Nami might need to thank the heavens no rumours would start to circulate.
She closes the doors as she looks at the tall and smiling giant in front of you; even after years of not seeing him at all, he was still somehow taller than you. He waves his hands as a hello sign while Nami was trying not to hit him in the head.
"What are you doing here, and do you have any idea what would happen if they knew you were Wonwoo from SEVENTEEN?" Nami scolded, "are you crazy? Paparazzi would come!"
Wonwoo could only shrug, "I'm here to pick you up. You told me to be here at 7, but I was too excited to see you, so I went here early."
"Woah... you really have no shame in your words?" Nami shakes her head, and Wonwoo laughs as he steps forward to her, tucking a strand of hair from her face.
"Nope, I realise that my image is not important if I can't have you close to me," Wonwoo looks at Nami in the end, expecting her to blush. Still, instead, she scoffs as she gently slaps his hands away as she was walking back to her room.
Well, that didn't work. Wonwoo was more surprised to see Nami like this.
"Well, you're wasting your time coming here because you have a schedule, and you're not supposed to be here, so –" Nami looks at her phone –" you know your way out."
Wonwoo was flabbergasted. Never in his years was he rejected in this kind of way, especially when that person was Nami herself. It reminds him of what Joshua had said. She is different, not the way he knew her.
He keeps on his gaze to Nami, who was walking to the kitchen as she begins to open the cupboard. She was grabs the coffee bag as pours them into the coffee maker. Waiting for the coffee to brew, she slips herself into her room as took her phone.
A sudden ding in his phone erupted to see his manager asking if he wanted to be picked up after. Still, Wonwoo declined as he would be with Nami all day, and he would join practice later.
"Nami, what are you doing? Aren't you going to be late?" Nami stops at her track as she looks at Wonwoo.
"I'm going to be late if you don't go now, go...." Nami usher, "Don't make your manager's job any harder."
Instead of listening to Nami, he looks around the place before asking her, "Then what are you using to go the place?"
Nami nods at the table, and Wonwoo looks at the to see a car key. He begins to walk there, snatching the keys and start to walk to the door.
"I'll wait for you downstairs. Get ready."
Nami looks at Wonwoo as he disappears from her apartment. After he closes the door, Nami drops on the kitchen table as her heart was beating loudly. Stupid heart, why are you pounding so loudly even after not seeing him, she thought.
It was a silent ride to the studio. Even after arguing with Wonwoo to go away – because her heart was too weak to be in the same space as him – Wonwoo had literally drag Nami to the car.
"What about your schedule? Joshua said you had an interview and –"
"Why don't you believe me when I told you I don't have a schedule? Why do you believe Joshua than me?" He reasons, and Nami was quiet looking at the side. There goes Wonwoo again being a stubborn head as usual.
"You're an idiot, I'm worried about your schedule, and here you are arguing about believing Joshua more," Nami sat down as she scrolls through her phone.
"You care about me, aren't you?" Wonwoo smiles, "I should make you worried more if you're going to act like this."
"Your unbelievable, don't talk to me." Nami was looking away. Even after years of practising her line of being angry, she couldn't help to care. Why was she feeling like this?
"Nami... I'm not here to fight with you. I'm just trying to be your friend again."
"Why?" she looks at Wonwoo, "I was doing fine. Why did you come here?"
Wonwoo was silent. He glances at her to see her looking at him. She was about to turn away before a sudden ring erupted.
"Hello, Seoyeon?" Nami answers, "Yeah... He's right here... oh – wait – okay wait just – Seoyeon."
Nami pressed the speaker on, and a loud crash was heard.
"Nami? Am I still on?"
"Yeah... he can hear you."
"Jeon Wonwoo, you idiot, you don't just brag into a ladies house like your own!"
Wonwoo could only chuckle as he heard a familiar sound in the phone call, "It's nice to see you too, and to the fact I didn't barge in, Nami left me all alone downstairs."
Nami hits Wonwoo shoulders as he laughs at her. He took another turn focusing on the road.
"Nami, don't kill Wonwoo," Seoyeon smiles through the phone.
"My career is still long. I don't need a criminal record," Nami grumbles. As the three of them started to converse with each other, Nami couldn't help to smile a bit. Like before, the three of them would always be with each other. She could remember how everything was simple.
She couldn't help to stare at Wonwoo for a while as he was laughing over Seoyeon's scolding. She was trying to calm herself. Even after years, her heart was beating for the person beside her.
