I woke a few moments before the alarm and just smiled to myself for a while. It was my day. I rolled towards her and leaned up on my elbow to watch her sleep. I reached out and gently touched her cheek and traced a soft line from her ear to her chin. "Hmmm."
I woke smiling at his touch. "Good morning birthday boy." I giggled. "I love you." It was early, but I was excited. "What would you like to do this morning?" I remembered how he woke me up on my birthday and I bit my lip.
I smiled and just watched her eyes. "This is fine for now." I continued to gently touch her face letting my fingers run over her smooth skin. I even pulled my eyes from hers to watch my fingers move in the dimness of the room. I sighed but didn't otherwise move. I traced her eyebrow, her cheekbone, the corner edges of her lip. She's beautiful in any light, morning light is my favorite, but it was early still and the sun hadn't woken yet.
I watched him watch me. I smiled and blushed. He was studying my face with his eyes and his fingers. I bit my lip. It always felt strange to me to be the full center of his attention. I had no idea what his ultimate goal was, but I felt treasured. I sighed softly. It was his birthday, and I felt like I should be worshipping him.
I relaxed and continued to trace over her face to her ear, down her neck carefully, and over her collarbone. I smiled and signed again. I wasn't in the mood for conversation or much more than what I was doing. The alarm would go off soon and it would be time to get out of bed, grab a blanket, put on fuzzy pajamas, and go out back to watch the sun rise. It is never as pretty in the city as it is out in the wilds but it is still pretty and I wanted to watch it in warm comfortable silence with my girl in my arms.
His gentle touches on my skin had me drifting off to sleep again. I know I yawned and closed my eyes. It was still dark out. We had all day to do what he wanted. I really hoped he liked his surprise.
I smiled to myself as she drifted back to sleep and waited a while to ensure she was there before I got out of bed and headed down to make food. I hoped she didn't mind since I actually do love to cook and I wanted to do it. I kept it simple, waffles and fruit, whipped cream, and tea. I set our plates out on the tray, put the hot food in the oven to keep it warm, and went back upstairs. I never go through her drawers but I found myself looking in the right drawer for the pajamas that I wanted to see on her. They were warm and fuzzy. I grabbed mine and dug up socks and slippers for us both. Then sat down on her edge of the bed. "Babe?"
"Hmmm?" I yawned and opened my eyes. "Sorry. I fell asleep."
"That's fine. I got pajamas and socks and slippers for you. It's a bit chilly still. I made breakfast because I wanted to. You want to get up now and head downstairs? It's done. We can eat inside then head out to watch the sun rise from the hammock."
I sat up and frowned a little. "I was going to make you breakfast, but it's your day. You can do whatever you want." I started to get up so I could get dressed to go eat.
"But I love to cook. Turn that frown upside down. After the sun rises, it's your ball game, Okay?" I gently tapped her nose.
"Mmmkay." I smiled and pulled on the pajamas he got out for me and put on the socks and slippers. I went to the bathroom and washed my hands and let him lead me downstairs.
I took her to the bar and asked her to sit then got the food out and put the waffle sticks I had made on her plate. The fruit and whipped cream was already sitting on the countertop. I then added the hot water to her tea before sitting down myself. "Thanks for letting me have a bit of fun this morning and letting me do this."
"This looks so yummy. I would do anything for you." I dug into breakfast. "I hope the sunrise is all you want it to be." I stifled a small yawn.
"You'll be there. I'm sure it will be." I smiled. "Thank you."
