Chapter 8

She could sense the smell of fresh lime fruit from his body, mixed with a cigarette scent. The sunlight made his body somehow look golden; it helps him to look gentle.

It's been two months since their last meeting. Jungkook's hair has been cut short. Lalisa feels he is taller than before, though she doesn't know whether it's her mere illusion or not.

He still looked undisciplined and dazzling.

Lisa's heartbeat quickens. Because of his words, she lacks self-confidence and makes her feel that she is doing deeds that troubles her conscience. She is anxious and rubs her palms to soothe her emotions.

After some time, she passes the doll back to his hands and says, "I didn't know it's yours."

She lowers her head and shifts her body and feels embarrassed.

She doesn't get his reply, she just points at the box in the rear of the vehicle. She explains seriously, "I came to help Ge Ge to move in. I saw that there were things inside the car so I wanted to help him bring it up."

She waits for several seconds but he still says nothing.

Lalisa hesitates for a while and adds, "If I knew that the doll is yours, I would not have taken it."

"...." Jungkook's brows move. He straightens his back and repeats her words once more. "If you knew it was me, you will not help me to bring it up?"

She immediately nods, "Of course I'll not."

"Did you say 'of course I'll not'?" Jungkook says languidly, his tone sounding like he is criticizing her. "Little kid, do you have any kindness in you?"

"......."

When she takes it, he calls her a thief. But when she doesn't take it, he says that she has no kindness.

This man is too apt to change.

He perseveres again, "Do you forget about when Ge Ge helped you big time?"

She feels unhappy and hums, "I remember."

"Then shouldn't you treat me better?"

Lalisa looks at him and says nothing.

Jungkook laughs lightly and doesn't tease her anymore. He passes the doll back to her. "If you like it, just take it."

She moves her hand to take it but suddenly she remembers when he asked her, "Do you like me?" she throws away her intentions to take it.

"You don't want it? Then I'll throw it away?"

She takes it back slowly.

Jungkook finds this is hilarious. "If you want it just take it. Little kid, you shouldn't be so difficult."

Lisa is unhappy to hear it. "You said before that I am a little thief."

"Ge Ge is joking with you." He takes the books on the trunks and closes the door. "Come, Let's go up."

Lisa follows him and says nothing else.

Jungkook glances at his phone for a while and asks her. "You are unhappy?"

She keeps silent.

After some time, she says honestly, "This doll is very ugly."

"Ugly?" Jungkook raises his eyebrows and looks at it, "I think it looks okay."

"Why did you buy this?"

"I didn't buy it." He thinks about it and says without a care, "I forget where I got it from."
