Chapter 34

In the narrow two-bed sickroom, the other bed is empty. This time there's only Jungkook inside. The room is so silent and lonely. He is lying flat on the bed and says nothing.

He shows no expression so Lisa couldn't make out what he is thinking.

Without his approval, Lisa also doesn't dare to get in. She just asks once more. "Could I?"

Jungkook speaks up and asks her, "Have you eaten your dinner?"

"I bought a bread nearby." Lisa blinks and moves towards his side. She holds the plastic bag to give him a look. "I also bought a box of oolong tea."

"Could you be full by eating that?" Jungkook looks around. "You should call takeaway to eat."

Lisa shakes her head. "I'm not too hungry."

"You ate nothing, how could you not be hungry?"

"I'm not hungry." She places the plastic bag on the desk and turns her body and moves the chair next to his bed. She moves slowly, "If I want to eat, I will eat. I'm an adult, I wouldn't starve myself."

Jungkook looks at her and suddenly smiles. He says nothing else.

Lisa sits down on the chair and takes the bread out. She says, "I asked a nurse before. You should lay flat for six hours, then after twelve hours, you could get off the bed."

"Em."

Lisa bites her bread and grumbles, "Now you still cannot eat anything. For a week, you should eat liquid food. This IV drip should be there for three days. "

Jungkook just listens absent-mindedly, "Em."

Then the room turns quiet.

It's only Lisa's voice of eating her bread.

The sickroom has a heater, after sitting for sometime Lisa feels a bit hot. She stands up and takes off her coat. She hangs it on the chair.

Jungkook examines her and says lightly, "It's winter, why are you not wearing a coat?"

Suddenly the silence is broken.

Lisa raises her head slowly and meets his eyes.

His tone sounds like the time her Ma caught her not wearing spring trousers on spring time.

Lisa doesn't want to being controlled on what she could wear.

"This is a long skirt." Lisa lowers her head and continues to chew her bread. "If you want to wear it, you can also wear it."

Jungkook looks at her.

Her way of eating things are still the same. She will stuff her mouth till her cheeks are bulging. She looks like a pufferfish. He wants to laugh but he is afraid that he will tear wound open. So he just says softly, "Here in Busan it is colder than Daegu. You should pay more attention. It'll be difficult if you fall ill."

Lisa suddenly remembers the last time she came to Busan. She feels it's hard to swallow. She doesn't see him and just drinks her Oolong tea. She nods.

She forces herself to finish the bread. Lisa looks at the time. "Guk Ge, do you want to sleep now?"

"What time is it?"

"It's almost eleven o'clock."

"How would you sleep here?"

Lisa thinks about it, "I'll rent the chair for carer. It's cheap."

"Chair for carer? Wouldn't it be hard for you to sleep?" Jungkook frowns and clearly he isn't approving it. "The next bed is empty. Just go and rent that one."
