==Stella's POV==

The Nurses called the police on us. It didn't take an idiot to figure out what happened to them. Chuck's dead. And Vee's broken. Her screams of absolute anguish surrounded the vynl walls and floors. It overwhelmed my senses, it was like a blanket of torment and misery suffocating anyone that heard it.

Even when the police came, her mourful cries never stopped.

I could only stand there in horror trying to comprehend what was happening. My best friend.

I caused this.

I yelped out as police officers pinned her to the ground.

"Hey, stop that! You're hurting her!" I tried to help but was restrained by handcuffs.

Ramon and I were getting escorted away, but my eyes never left her as they officers slammed her head against the ground to knock her out.

What have I done?

==Vee's POV==

I woke up, handcuffed to a chair in an office. Cheif Officer Turner entered the room.

"Evelyn Watt, I thought I told you to stay out of trouble?" He said with a dissapointed yet somehow smirking face.

"Maybe you should tell trouble to stay outta me." I snapped back, even though my throat felt scratchy again.

"Watch your tone." He groaned back at me. "I'm required to ask you if you got someone to call."

"Nope."

"Parents?"

"Vacation."

"Still? What about Sam, your brother?"

"Business trip."

"Still stubborn as ever, Stellas in the other room." He said undoing the handcuffs on my chair.

"Were those really necessary?" I asked rubbing my still cold wrists.

"You seem very mentally unstable, and they're probably coming back soon." He then left to the front desk, where Stella and Ramon were sitting.

Stella was on the phone, her eyes were bloodshot and puffy.

At least I wasn't the only one crying.

She quickly hung up the phone seeing Turner and I.

"So, is your dad coming to pick you up?" he asked.

Stella shook her head as tears continued to spill from her blue marble-like eyes.

I sighed, stuffing my hands in my pockets, only to feel Chuck's pen. I felt my eyes well up again as i rubbed the pen gently, pretending I was holding Chucks knuckles again.

"What about my call?" Ramon asked, bringing my attention back to him.

"Rules don't apply to draft dodgers." Turner spit the words harshly.

Stella and I looked at him concerned. He glanced down shamefully.

Draft dodger? LIke war?

"You think I wouldn't find out? Ramon Morales, you're gonna do your duty to this country one way or the other." His glare shifted to Stella. "I can help you if you tell me about your missing friends."

"We told you everything we know." Ramon said.

He laughed.

"Oh, yeah, right. Sarah Bellows' book." He sarcastically smiled, as if amused. "The stories write themselves and it all comes alive. We can't find any bodies."
