We pass doors labeled 'medical' and 'transports,' stopping at one with the word 'testing' on it. Darien pulled out a ring packed with keys. Does he have keys to all of the rooms? An if so, how does he remember which key goes to what? That'd be way too much for me to memorize.

"Testing? Why are we here?" I raise an eyebrow with confusion.

"I must test the energy in your phone and see if it is compatible with the technology we have." He explained, as he unlocked the door and we both entered. It was dimly lit; long, thin tables lined neatly everywhere.

"Oh, well here it is." I say, handing him my phone. "You're just draining the battery power, right? Like I can still recharge it?"

"Should be able to, yes." He answered, walking to one of the tables and plugging the phone to some box-like thing.

"What's that?" I ask, walking over to stand beside him.

"An energy conserver." Darien replied, a serious expression on his face as he concentrated on working with the...energy conserver. Why start with an energy conserver? Shouldn't he plug it into a weapon or something?

"Why an energy conserver?" I know what you're thinking, 'Girl, enough questions, all right? You need to just stand in the corner and watch. Don't distract the beauty from his work.' Maybe that last part was twisted to fit my view of him, but the rest is pretty accurate. Darien is gorgeous, okay?

"It will soak up the energy or reject it, best way to see if your phone's compatible." He pressed a few buttons on the box, and suddenly a red light flashed, then it turned green...then blue. What the heck? "This is new." He remarked, looking down at the conserver with excitement and curiosity sparking in his eyes. "The red meant that it was safe, but the green means unbalanced." He stated, before I could ask.

"What about the blue?"

"Well...that's what's new. I've never seen blue on this before." Darien looked quite puzzled.

"It's an effect from my world, then." My lips curve into a frown.

"I'm afraid so. What does it mean, though?" He marched towards a large screen with a computer-like appearance.

"Maybe it just means that the conserver didn't understand it?" He nodded slightly at my suggestion.

"That is a possibility. Actually, it probably is what happened." He started typing away at the screen.

~CONSERVER 577 HAS UNKNOWN MATTER IN IT~

Popped onto the screen, Darien then smiled with understanding and went back over to the conserver, pressing more buttons on it.

"It was confused, is all. I'm setting it to decode the battery's material."

"Yeah...how long will that take?"

"A little while." He replied, shrugging.
