Appellations (Reader X Bucky)

You look up at him thankful that he made it to you so quick and was here to get you out of this situation.

"Yeah," you respond as you get up out your seat.

Bucky follows your lead out of the restaurant, literally having your back as you both walk out of the restaurant. His car was hurriedly half parked up onto the curb, he opens the passenger side door for you and closes it behind you as you get in, watching his surroundings as he does, then walks around to the driver's side and gets in himself. He pulls his concealed gun from the back of his waistband and places inside the glove box before driving off.

You look at him a little shocked but not surprised.

"Are you okay?" he asks.

"I uhm, I dunno, i just broke it off with Matt," you say honestly.

"What happened?"

"A good friend of mine from my trainee nursing days sent me a video of him and Whitney together."

"Whitney?" he asks, you realise you hadn't mentioned her name to him previously.

"The woman who hosted the party at Guastavinos the other night."

"The one he dropped your Stark name to?"

"One and the same," you confirm.

The car goes silent for a moment, you thought Bucky was concentrated on the road but he was thinking things over.

Your phone starts to buzz in your bag, as you take it out Bucky glances over and sees Matt's name and face pop up onto your screen. You let it ring out, and then it instantly rings again.
A message comes through, "(y/n) please answer, we need to talk."

He rings again.

Another message, "fine I'll come to the tower."

"What's he saying?" Bucky asks.

"He wants to talk, said he's going to the tower since I won't answer the phone."

You dial a number into your phone and enable loud speaker so Bucky could hear what you were doing.

"Good evening Miss Stark, how can I be of assistance?" F.R.I.D.A.Y asks.

"Can you revoke all access that Matt Miller has to the tower, immediately, change my phone number and notify everyone apart from Matt Miller."

"Certainly, Miss Stark do you have a confirmation number?"

"No, thankyou F.R.I.D.A.Y I'm okay, I'm with Sergeant Barnes."

"Very well Miss Stark, have a good night."

"Bye F.R.I.D.A.Y," you say as you hang up.

You could tell Bucky's mind was working over time so you offer him an answer, "she asks me for confirmation number incase I'm in danger. I set up a couple of 3 digit codes for different scenarios."

"That's smart," he says impressed.

"Thanks," you smile, "listen, can I ask one more favour of you?"

"Anything, doll."

"Can you take me to 30 West 85th Street, and make sure no one follows us? Which I'm guessing your already doing."

He smirks at your observation and proceeds to drive you to your destination. Before he turns into the street he kills the lights on his car and drives slowly so not to be detected.

"You can park here," you point to a free space on the right.

He does as you ask and knocks the engine off.

"Why are we here?" he asks.

"This is my safe house," you look at him, "I think I will be better here, since Matt will be waiting for me outside the tower."

Bucky looked at you a little concerned, "and he doesn't know about this place?"

"Only Tony knows, and now you," you tell him, "what's wrong?"

"I don't feel comfortable leaving you on your own (y/n)," he says looking into your eyes.

You smile at him to try and ease his worries, "I will be fine, I have protocols and weapons in there if anything goes south, and don't you dare think about staking this place out," you jokingly warn him.

He sighs and shakes his head slightly at his now foiled plan.

"Matt will be expecting us back at the tower so you'll have to go back, when you get there tell him I skipped town and have gone to Arizona to get my head straight," you tell him as you get out the car.

You walk around to his side as he rolls down his window.

"Thankyou for coming to get me tonight," you say with sincerity.

"Stay safe, call if you need me."

You nod at his response and make your way inside, once he sees you closing the curtains he reluctantly drives off back to the tower.

As you had predicted Matt was waiting outside the doors to the tower pacing back and forth. Bucky parks his car in the garage and walks to where Matt is.

"Where is she? I want to talk to her," Matt shouts at Bucky.

Bucky took great joy in telling Matt, "I took her to the airport."

"What? She left? Where did she go?"

"Gone to stay with some friends in Arizona, but I'd suggest giving her some space," he adds to the end of his sentence knowing full well it would only push Matt to try and find you in Arizona.

"Uuughhhhh!" Matt groans in frustration as Bucky walks away from him and into the tower.

What Bucky didn't know was that Matt's performance was fake and he knew exactly where you were, but he needed a plan.

After you get settled in you pour yourself a glass of wine and wrap yourself up in blankets infront of the TV. Now that you were alone your mind had time to process what had happened tonight, and out of nowhere you start to cry.
You didn't know what you had done wrong for him to cheat on you, did you not give him enough time, or enough attention, were you not good in bed? Questions start to spiral in your mind trying to pin point an answer.

Then your phone pings, a message from Tony in the group chat, "F.R.I.D.A.Y notified us that Matt has be denied all access to the tower, is everything okay?"

You: No not really, I found out he's been cheating on me.

Nat: Wow sorry to hear that (y/n), want me to go kick his ass?

Steve: Are your okay?

Tony: HE WHAT?! WHERE IS THAT SCUMBAG NOW? I'LL BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF HIM FOR CHEATING ON MY SISTER!

Steve: Language Tony!

Steve: But i agree to kicking his ass.

You: Thanks guys :') But I'll be okay.

Tony: Where are you? Do you need me to pick you up?

You: No I'm safe.
You knew by saying this Tony would understand where you were.

Tony: Okay well call me if you need anything.

Steve: Me too.

Nat: Same.

You: Thanks, I'm sure I'll be fine and I will be back as soon as my head's clear. X
