I walked closer to the crystal, it really was Annie. I examined her features, she seemed so peaceful. I gently traced my fingertips over the crystal, it felt oddly comforting, it was cold and smooth.I, instinctively, placed my forehead against Annie's and closed my eyes. It was as if I couldn't control myself, it just happened. And as soon as my head met the crystal my body felt warm. Comforting. Like I was safe, like I was home.
A voice calling my name startled me, until I realized it was Annie's. I opened my eyes, my forehead still against hers separated by the smooth glass, verifying that her eyes were still closed. So it's like what happened with my mother she can talk with me.
"I can hear your thoughts too (Y/N), so there is no need to talk," I let out a breath I was holding, I wondered if Annie could get out of the crystal, if she was going to be safe.
"Don't worry about me, I will be fine. Focus on getting yourself to the seventh heaven. You will be safe there. I will meet you there." Right she can hear my thoughts. Were even is the seventh heaven? How do I get there? And can Hange come with me?
"I can tell you love them, anyone can go but I won't promise they will be accepted. I can't tell you were the seventh heaven is, to be honest I don't know myself. I have been there but it's not a place you can just walk to. Your inner soul will guide you there. I can sense yours, you've got a strong one,"
Is that the thing that controls me? Is my inner soul why I can't control my titan?
"No, thats something entirely different. That is something man made, by your father. Is an alteration in your blood stream. Like a drug. You inner soul is like your instinct,"
That makes sense, of course my dad would do this to me. What do I need to do to get out of this dungeon?
"I don't know, you have to figure everything else out. This is as much help as I can give you, best of luck (Y/N). I know as little as you do."
I removed my forehead from the crystal and stared at Annies peaceful face.
I should've listened to her when I could. Shit she wouldn't be here, all of this is my fault, I am an idiot. A few tears started leaving my eyes but the sound of steps approaching and muffled voices startled me. I acted quickly and hid behind a small table.
The door open slightly and two cloaked figures entered. Cadets? How are they here? They approached Annie silently.
"Shit, what are we going to do?" One of the boys said, his voice was familiar and when the other boy spoke again my eyes widened in realization.
"What do we do Reiner?" He questioned, his voice shaky. I was trying to get closer to identify the other boy when I accidentally fell forward, a loud thump was heard.
"Shit WHY WOULD YOU SAY MY NAME!?" Reiner yelled, trying to turn to run but I stopped them before he could.
"WAIT! Its just me!" I said coming out of my hiding place. "I am on your side,"
They looked at me baffled before they both smiled gently.
"You scared the crap out of us section commander," Reiner said as he extended his arm out to me.
"Ready to leave to paradise?" He asked.
"We can't leave Annie!" The other boy said
"We must,"
"No! What are you even saying! They will kill her Reiner!"
"WE CANT TAKE HER CANT YOU SEE HER! SHES ALREADY DEAD!"
The other boy started shaking as a few tears left his eyes. I walked up to him and took his hand,
"Its okay, she will be safe. We will help her later, yeah?" I reassured and he nodded wiping a few tears.
"Now I am not leaving without section commander Hange,"
"We figured. She is not far, lets go find her," the boy said and I nodded following them through the small halls of the dungeon. I found everything so suspicious specially the lack of security and guards. It made me uneasy.
We approached a small door and they stood in front of it, looking at me.
"This is were they keep section commander Hange,"
"Wait what, how do you know?" I questioned
"Because we have spies everywhere, they tell us everything we need to know, including who and were everyone at the dungeons is,"
I hummed in approval, still a little skeptical about the boys, before knocking on the door softly.
After a few minutes of no answer I turned the door as quietly as possible, the room was a little bigger than mine. It had a relatively large bed and a small desk. In the desk the girl I love was sleeping, her head on the hard surface and her back bent in an uncomfortable way.
I walked towards her and gently tapped her shoulder, "Hange?"
She groaned before quickly standing up and turning to see me "Y/N!!" They yelled as their arms surrounded my waist. I quickly wrapped mine around their neck and took a deep breath. The scent of honey coating my nose. The scent of home.
"Be quiet!" Reiner shushed and Hange only squeezed me tighter. I felt a wetness in my shirt, they were crying?
"Is okay, I am here baby," I told them rubbing their back gently.
"We gotta go," the other boy, whom I don't know said softly. Hange pulled away from the embrace and nodded. They grasped my hand in theirs as they pulled me away from the room.
We followed the boys through hallways and staircases and then we saw the light of the world outside, light I had not seen in weeks. Hange's hand was surrounding mine and they squeezed it tightly, a soft smile adorned their lips. I felt safe. But the newfound feeling wouldn't last long.
