Chapter 24

"Put on the Gloves I gifted you Lil One. Now." Nora was saying to Brandon about Half an hour later.

They were both standing in front of his bedroom door.

Why?" Brandon asked even as he reached into his back pocket where he always kept the gloves safely tucked away from when they visited the Garden.

Nora grabbed his hands and helped him don the tight leather over his fingers, before she answered him. "Because where were going..." She started to explain, releasing his hand. "You're going to be around a lot of energy...and I don't want you're....powers waking up and alerting the other Alchemists to our presence in a part of the halls that we shouldn't be in."

Surprised Brandon asked her. "The other Alchemists can sense my power?"

Nora shrugged and said. "I can sense it almost all the time...." She explained, big beautiful eyes shining for a moment in awe as she looked at him. "You're like this beautiful little star burning brightly at times and dim at other times, but powerful. So powerful." Nora shook her head turned to the door and flipped her braid over the shoulder. "Now...follow me." She commanded.

And just like that the two of them slipped out into the white washed halls.

Intensely reminded of time when Nora had taken him to the Garden for the first time, Brandon wasn't too surprised when Nora not only led him down halls that felt unfamiliar, but hallways that seemed to go deeper and deeper into his father's home then he had ever known was possible.

Suddenly the white hallways turned into one single hallway....and at the end of that hall, was a giant door.

IT was a door unlike any door that Brandon had ever seen before.

Where all the doors he had ever seen were made out of thick glass....this new door looked much heavier then glass.

It was silver and Brandon couldn't see strait through it.

The only reason Brandon even realized that the door was a door at all was because Nora walked up to it....and after locating a small dialing pad beside the wall, she pressed a few buttons and the silver square in the wall, hissed, clicked and swung open on soundless hinges.

Beckoning Brandon forward with her hand, Nora pulled the silver door, backwards, and ushered Brandon forwards into a giant, pitch black room on the other side of the door.

Once Brandon walked into the darkness he couldn't see anything.

He was forced to stand in anxious abandon just inside of the room. With no lights to see by....Brandon was stuck with this emotion....and an overwhelming sense of life burning somewhere in the room before him. He sensed the flow of it beneath his skin.

The Flame jumped to attention and instantly tried to pour down into Brandon's hands, but with the black gloves on, Brandon was able to mostly ignore the sensation....even if his mouth watered slightly at the idea of feeding.

Slightly revolted at this realization, Brandon was caught off guard, when bright white lights flashed to life all across the celling of the gigantic room that Nora had led him too.

With a gasp Brandon looked back, just in time to see that Nora had closed the silver door, and flipped a switch.

A small hum of power shot into the silence as three long rows of lights, built into the ceiling glowed above them.
