You landed on your back, your head spinning as it tried to process what had just happened. Thankfully whatever you landed on was soft. You looked around you, you had landed in a patch of green. Bright green plants surrounded you and enveloped you like a cloud. The variant had landed next to you, her black attire stood out against the green, her blonde hair a contrast to it. Looking at her briefly you had to admit she was attractive when she wasn't threatening to slice you like a fish. You on the other hand, were still in your silk nightgown, which was now covered in leaves and dirt. Your hair was now dry, but also now all over the place and untamed. The variant got up almost immediately after you both had fallen, pulled her leg up and over you, and settled on top of you. Her knees dug into the ground on either side of your hips and her weight rested on your legs so you couldn't move. Without saying a word to you she grabbed her tempad and began to fidget with it while holding you down.

"Shit! It's not working!" she said angrily beating it against her hands. "What are you talking about?" you asked shifting uncomfortably as her weight restricted blood flow to your legs. "The tempad is dead, we're stranded" she said still looking at the tempad. "STRANDED? Where did you bring us?" you asked angrily. "An apocalyptic world, one that won't end right away, one where your friends won't find us. I told you I wasn't done with you yet" she said getting off of you and standing up. "Well now we're stranded aren't we? So if they can't find us, and we can't get out of here when the world ends, we're screwed?" you asked, panic rising in your voice. "We just need to charge it" she said walking a few feet away. "Oh yeah sure no problem, why don't you plug it into one of the trees here and then maybe the mushrooms will charge it for us" you said rolling your eyes. "How does this world end then? What world are we even on?" you asked as you stood up and brushed yourself off. "Triton, a world whose moon travels too far away from its gravitational pull and causes a giant wave to cover the planet in water" she said in an unbelievably calm voice. "Oh that's all then" you said sarcastically. "Are there even people here? Buildings? Power sources?" you asked looking around the forest. "I don't know, I've never stayed here long enough to find out" She replied looking around as well. "Okay, so you're just an idiot whose doomed us then?" you spat out.

Clearly that was the wrong question, because a second later you were pinned against a tree with a knife to your throat. The variant had you pinned tight, her knee wedged between your legs holding you up in the air a few inches, which made your nightgown rise slightly. Leaning over you she took her left hand and used it to pull your hair tight against the tree, forcing you to look up at her. Her right hand pushing the blade into your flesh. Her breath was hot against your ear as she leaned in and whispered, "what the fuck did you just say to me?" She stroked your cheek menacingly as she looked fiercely into your eyes waiting for a response. Your back was digging into the rough bark of the tree, and you could feel your nightgown sticking to you. "I didn't say anything" you forced out through gritted teeth. "That's what I thought" she said releasing you to the ground.

"So what now........?" you said to her expectantly. "Sylvie, my name is Sylvie if that's what you're getting at" she spat impatiently. "What's your name, momma's girl?" she asked rolling her eyes. "Y/N" you replied shortly. Sylvie snorted in response. You rolled your eyes and took in the sights around you. Sylvie had put you back on the ground, but she still stood in front of you, almost guarding you to make sure you didn't run off. Not that you could run off, you had no shoes and just your nightgown on, you were definitely not dressed for a hike through the woods. Sylvie must have been thinking the same thing as she looked you up and down with a frown. "We need to start walking, keep up" she said leading the way. "And where exactly are we going?" you asked following after her, careful to watch where you step. "I have no idea, hopefully to some civilization so I can steal a power source" she said continuing to walk. "And what then? What happens after you get the tempad charged again?" you asked. "Then we go somewhere we can have a nice little chat without drowning" she replied shortly. "We can chat right now" you said with mild bravery. "Are you still going to lie to me?" she asked turning to you and raising her brows. "If by lie, you mean tell you you're crazy about the timekeepers being fake, then yes, yes I will most certainly lie to you" you responded rolling your eyes. "That's what I thought, we don't need to chat here, I don't want to hear your voice anyways" she responded coldly.

You continued to walk in silence for what seemed like ages. Your feet started to hurt and you winced every time you stepped on something hard. Your nightgown was drenched in sweat because of the heat, the weather here was tropical. A mist hung in the air, dew drops formed on the leaves of the foliage around you. Beautiful flowers of all different colors clung to the trees with vines, the beauty of it was actually breathtaking when you looked around. Birds chirped and flew from branch to branch above you, flashing all sorts of colors, red, blue, green, and even pink. The forest stretched ahead for what seemed like forever, you wondered if you were ever going to get anywhere at all. Just when you thought your feet couldn't take anymore, Sylvie and you saw an opening in the forest ahead. "Finally" you said walking forward. The forest opened up into a shocking view. You opened your mouth in awe at what you saw. What looked like a desolate war torn city stood among you. Skyscrapers stood tall with vines and broken windows, cars lay wasting away in the streets. You didn't see a single sign of life here.

"Sylvie, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't think there's a power source on this planet" you said as you both took in the sights before you. "We'll find something" she stated simply and continued to walk forward. You were about to follow her into the city, but suddenly you got a bad feeling. "Sylvie, wait" you said looking around. "What is it now?" she demanded looking back at you. "Where are the birds?" you asked listening intently. "What?" she asked looking at you as if you were crazy. "The birds, the forest was filled with them, where are they now? It's silent out here" you said with unease. Sylvie looked around now, listening to the deafening silence before the both of you. You both studied your surroundings intently, listening for any possible noise. Sylvie opened her mouth as if she was about to say something, and if she did, it never made it out as it was interrupting by a loud roar emanating from city. You both looked at each other in alarm. "What was that?" you asked with wide eyes.
