Chapter 16: Graduation

-Y/N and Jennie are at their graduation-

Y/N: You got your valedictory speech ready yet?

Jennie: Oh, more or less.

Y/N's father: Y/N!

Y/N: Dad!

-Y/N's father shows up and hugs Y/N-

Y/N: Hi.

Y/N's father: Sorry I'm late, I had a hell of a time parking.

Y/N: That's okay. You're here, that's all that matters.

Y/N's father: You kidding me? I wouldn't miss this for the world.

Y/N: I saved you a seat next to Jennie's parents, okay?

Y/N's father: I'll sit where you want, Miss Kim.

Y/N: Okay. I'll see you after.

Y/N's father: Yeah, good luck out there.

-at the graduation ceremony-

University President:And he's also a major benefactor to our university. Please join me in welcoming, Mr. Jeon Jungkook.

-the crowd claps for Jungkook as he gets up to give speech-

Jeon Jungkook: Thank you. I am deeply moved by the great compliment accorded to me today.

-as Jungkook is giving his speech Y/N overhears two female grad students talking about him-

Female Grad #1: He is so hot.

Female Grad #2: Oh, my gosh. He so is.

Y/N: I heard he's gay.

-as he continues to give his speech at the graduation ceremony-

Jeon Jungkook: Sustainable methods of farming for third world countries. The goal? To eradicate hunger and poverty across the globe. I myself have known what it's like to be profoundly hungry. So this is a very personal mission for me.

-the crowd claps; later as Y/N gets her graduate certificate on the podium she walks over to Jungkook and shakes his hand-

Jeon Jungkook: Congratulations, you must be very proud.

Y/N: I am. Nice tie, by the way.

Jeon Jungkook: Truthfully it's become my favorite. Do you have your answer yet?

Y/N: I'm still thinking.

Jeon Jungkook: Y/N, just try it my way. Please.

Y/N: Okay.

Jeon Jungkook: What?

-Y/N smiles and walks away-

-Y/N's father hugs Y/N at the graduation party-

Y/N: Dad, hi!

Y/N's father: I'm so proud of you, Y/N.

Y/N: Thank you!

Y/N's father: And, Jennie, best valedictorian speech ever.

Jennie: Oh, thank you.

Y/N's father: It was awesome.

Y/N: Yeah, I agree.

-just then Jungkook joins them-

Jeon Jungkook: Y/N? Hi.

Y/N: Hi.

-Jennie looks at Y/N's father-

Jennie: have you met Jeon Jungkook? Y/N's boyfriend?

Jeon Jungkook: Ah. Great pleasure to meet you.

-Jungkook shakes Y/N's father's hand-

Y/N's father: Likewise. I really enjoyed your speech.

Jeon Jungkook: Thank you, sir.

Y/N's father: Sounds like you've accomplished some pretty impressive things.

Jennie: I'll say. Well, I'm gonna go find my family, impatiently waiting to embarrass me. Bye.

-she kisses Y/N's father's cheek-

Jennie: Come see us in Seattle soon?

Y/N's father: Soon as I get an invitation. So, how long you two known each other?

Y/N: Um...

Jeon Jungkook: A few weeks now.

Y/N: Mm-hmm.

Jeon Jungkook: We actually met when Y/N interviewed me for the student newspaper.

Graduation Photographer: A picture please, Mr. Jeon?

Jeon Jungkook: Excuse us for one second.

-Jungkook takes Y/N to one side to be photographed with him-

Graduation Photographer: Big smile now.

-Y/N smiles uncomfortably as Jungkook pulls her next to him to be photographed-
