"Wow... This old man is ...amazing. I need to learn from him ... Umm isn't this old man the one who fought with Uncle Tha last time? Again Wow...what a coincidence! I was hoping to meet this old man to learn his...what to say...skill of word fight. Do you think it will be worth?"
"Of course, it will. What about we learn together... It will be fun, don't you think?"
"Why won't it be fun, if we go together?"
"Mr Thada, Mr June... What brought you here?" The scary face turns into a smiling face. He walks toward us and shook his hand with Dad and Uncle who look unwilling.
"Ah! New, son what...." But Hin hides behind Turtle and Singto who knows when did they come when Mr Foei walks toward Hin.
"I won't do anything. What are you afraid of?.... I even thought about having you as my son-in-law" he said in the lower voice but I somehow hear it.
"Keep dreaming, okay?" Win said. It means m, not the only one. He turns to Dad and Mama, " Uncles, Auntie let go inside," but he never turns in my direction.
"Please come in," Tay's mother said with a bright smile.
"Hello Aunty, how are you" Off said and hug her.
"I'm good, Off. Ah, Singto, it's good to see you" What they know each other but she doesn't know me.
"I miss you Aunty" Singto hug her.
"Because you don't visit Tay's house" Singto whisper.
"What?" I give him a confused look but he just shrugged his shoulder.
"Uncle, Aunty let go inside," Win said and bring us to his house but I never see his face, either turning his back to me or block my view from others. So I'm very eager to see him.
"Then I'll make some tea," Win said and walk toward the other direction when I try to look at his face. Why is it so hard to see him? And also he didn't even look at me. When people meet me, they look at me with hungry eyes but he didn't even look at me.
This house looks old from the outside but the inside is so neat from Hin and my bedroom.
"I'll help you" Krist and New follow Win into another room.
"So Mr Foei, Can I ask what was the earlier arguments about? I know I was crossing your privacy but I just wanted to know" Dad words make Mr Foei has retired his eyes from Hin back to Dad.
"Oh, it's okay..... Tay is a worker in my company. So today he didn't come to work without informing anyone, and my son saw him hugging someone. He beat him because of it. That's the reason why we arguing earlier" Mr Foei respond with an emotional face.
"If my brother informed you guys, would you give him the day off? And also my brother is not owned by your family, he can hug, date, kiss anyone...I think it's none of your business, is it?" Win says as he served the tea but Krist give me the cup so I can't able to see his face again. Seriously, why is it so hard to see his face? When can I see and talk to him?
"You don't know anything, Win. But your brother is already brought" Mr Foei voice seem to be angry.
"That the point! How can you easily say that a person is brought like a thing?" Uncle June said which seem confused but for us who live together for a long time, knows it's mocking.
"Or are you losing some brain cell? Unable to differentiate between things and people? It's a bit difficult problem" Uncle June added.
"Mr June, that's not like that. It's just that...."
"Then tell me how much do you invest in him to own, I'll refund you back. Don't worry, I will give you right now" Dad interrupted Mr Foei which made Tay's mother, widen his eyes. Uncle June, Mama, Aunty May nod with agreed.
"Ah Mr Thada, you don't need to..." Tay's mother said as he waves his hand, seems to panic.
"Piglet, don't worry. It will be fine" Mama consoles her.
"Don't be shy, just say it. Or you don't want money?" Uncle June said with a mocking tone.
"Yes, I want something else. If you give me, I'll tear the agreement paper in front of everyone" Mr Foei said, is he even have a shame?
"It's okay, Just say what you want"
"I'll agree to tear the agreement paper if you give your youngest son, New to me as my son-in-law in-law, is it okay with you?" Everyone in the room looks at him but Off jumps toward Mr Foei but Krist who already know the reaction held him down.
"P'Giraffe, stay still" as it is he sits down and stay quiet.
I don't need to do anything because if it was related to Hin and Turtle then he will not let go of the person without him satisfied. Turtle and Hin is the one who can calm him. If I go and try then I'll be the one who he will satisfy. So I don't dare.
"Tay is a person. If you want him back then I have to grain another person, is it wrong? Moreover my son like him, I also want him to be my son-in-law. So Mr Thada, Mr June what do you say?" Me Foei said as he eyes Dad with challenges.
"Me Foei, you! What are you saying? Don't you have a shame? Didn't you the one who just complain about my brother cheating on you? And now you are the one who ..." I want this courage but I'm afraid of his temper.
"Win! Don't interfere, that is their family ..."
"But Mom, they already ruined my brother li..."
"Win!" At last, Win shut up. From the unpleasant voice of Tay's mother, I think there is something wrong which kids don't know.
"I'm sorry for my son, Mr Thada, Mr June" Aunty Piglet apologies.
"It's okay, Piglet. What he said are all true. We support him" Aunt May said.
"So what do you say Mr...."
"Sorry but my son New is already engaged" Dad cut Mr Foei and replied. I look at Dad who looks serious and then at Off who smile like an idiot behind Turtle who looks like a statue with a shocking face that looks funny. Then look back at Hin who look at Dad as he was ready to cry. I hug him in my chest when I saw him and he cries in my embrace silently. I know he loves Off dearly but he already has someone who he loves and wants to spend time together till their last breath.
"Mr Thada, I'm serious here please don't joke like that" he responded with a smile but his challengeous look turns into a shocked look.
"He is not joking, he is serious"
"Then where is his engagement ring?"
"Oh, you took it wrong Mr Foei. To be honest we come here today is because of their engagement. "
"But why I don't hear anything about it?"
"It's our private matter"
"it's just an engagement so we want to do it in private. We don't want our children to get extra attention from the public" Dad replied calmly. Wait! They said we are here for engagement but neither Hin nor Off is not from here. That means this engagement has nothing to do with Off. But what about Off? if Hin will engage with either Tay or Win, then what will happen to Off?
When I look at Off, his earlier idiot face turns into a deep frown. I feel sad for him, he loves Hin from birth but he can't be able to claim Hin as his.
"So who are you going to engage with New? And why is he crying?" Mr Foei asked with a mockery tone with a grinned on his face as he looked at Dad and then Hin.
But what Mama said next had surprised not only me but also others.
"Because not like another sibling my son and June sons are good in relation. My elder son Bright is going to engage with Win, so he might just feel lonely"
