katsumi's solo mixtape.

katsumi wasn't of course, the first member to go solo, but she was very, extremely nervous about releasing the music that she had kept hidden away, because it's very personal for her.

in february 2018, katsumi released her mixtape 'ephemeral' meaning lasting for a very short time.

she wanted to bring out her vulnerable side, her fear of the people she loves leaving her.

furthermore, the media had a field day after they found out that not only did suga help produce one of her tracks, but also featured in it. this not only got a lot of positive reactions from fans, but also opened up the idea of male and female idols being friends. jaebum is also featured in one of her songs, a fun, and bouncy track.

TRACK LIST

1. first love

this track is katsumi's reference to the thing that made her become an idol in the first place. her love of music. the lyrics are sweet, the melody is soft, and it's something different to what the girl normally tries. she confirmed that youngjae and yugyeom recorded the first guidelines for this song.

2. nevertheless (feat. suga)

this is probably katsumi's favourite track, not just because she did it with her best friend, but because it releases all the pent up anger and frustration and sadness that she's held inside for all these years. both yoongi and katsu's rapping styles compliment each other, and the fans love it too.

3. tripping (feat. jay b)

alongside 'nevertheless', 'tripping' is another of katsumi's favourite tracks within her mixtape as it's a fun song that brings out her crazy side. she likes the way that whilst her rapping is harsh and brings attention forwards, jaebum's voice creates a contrast.

4. anemone

anemone flowers have sad meanings, used to show forsaken or faded hope, and this song is a tribute to katsumi's trainee days. the days where she thought that she'd never be able to make it, or make a name for herself, or become a daughter that her parents could brag about. it's a song that signifies the struggles of life.

5. sweetheart

this song isn't really referring to anybody in particular, rather, herself. katsumi is telling her younger self to not be afraid about everything, to have an open mind and to enjoy the time she is living. she calls herself 'sweetheart' because when she was younger, she was harsher on herself.
