Mornin', Angel

Cas smiled a bit tiredly at Dean as he made breakfast. It had been about three months since the prank.

The smell of bacon and eggs drew all residents of Singer Salvage into the kitchen.

Gabriel smirked. "Ooh, bacon. What's the occasion?"

"Cas was hungry," Dean said as he messed with the bacon.

The pregnant angel blushed. "Correction; he or she is hungry," she said, motioning to her baby bump.

"That still doesn't change the fact that you need breakfast. Hell, we all could use some."

"It's good that I'm past morning sickness," Cas said in relief, and heads nodded in agreement.

It was kind of awkward for Cas, being the only woman in the house.

Even so, she always had Dean and even Gabriel to talk to.

Sam stumbled down the stairs, his hair wet. "Phew. Someone needs to fix the shower," he said, looking right at Gabe.

"What? It was an honest mistake," the archangel said, kissing Sam on the cheek.

"Mornin' Bobby, Crowley. How are you, Cas?" Sam asked.

"Tired," was the immediate answer as she nestled her chin on her forearms.

"Your nephew or niece likes to kick," Dean commented.

Sam grinned. "So, Dean, any new hunts?" "Actually, yeah. We're gonna head out at about noon."

"What's the problem?" "Sounds like a feral lamia." Sam raised an eyebrow. "As in what?"

"As in those witch thingys that are barely human and a pain in the ass."

"Oh, those. Okay, then," Sam said, grabbing a strip of bacon.

Cas grabbed one quickly so she'd at least get one strip.

Needless to say, the bacon was attacked.

"Oi, be civilized will ya? I want one," Dean snapped.

Cas picked a remaining one up and wrapped her arms around his waist, handing it to him.

"Thanks, Cas," Dean said affectionately, smiling at her.

The eggs were also attacked, and Dean barely managed to get himself a little and Cas as much as she needed.

"Jesus, I made two packages of bacon and one and a half cartons of eggs. I swear you guys eat like wolves."

Every guy shrugged, grinning with a mouthful of egg and bacon.

"That's when you know you're a good cook," Gabe mumbled around a mouthful of food.

Dean grinned. "Point taken." He took a seat next to Cas, and breakfast continued in mostly silence, with a few mumbled words here and there.

Noon came sooner than anyone thought, and Dean, Sam, and Gabriel packed up enough stuff for a night or two.

Dean gave Cas a hug, told Bobby to keep an eye on her, and started up the Impala.

Dean heard something only a little bit louder than the road of his Baby.

He turned her off, and listened again.

"DEEEEEEAAAAAAAN!" "Oh shit!" Dean said, running full speed back to Singer Salvage.

Cas was backed up against the wall, prevented from rushing forward to fight by Bobby and Crowley, who were in front of her, and Gadreel, Raphael, and Zachariah were towering menacingly over every one of them.

"Go! I'll hold them off!" Gabe yelled.

Dean dodged the angels as Sam and Gabe fought them off with angel blades.

He made it to Cas, and she slipped him an angel blade.

Dean slashed at Gadreel while Gabriel killed Raphael (or at least it looked that way) and attacked Zachariah.

Cas stayed directly behind the hunter while he stuck the blade into the Gadreel, and the angel crumpled to the floor. Gabriel finished off Zachariah, and Cas leaned into Dean, crying.

"Shh, it's gonna be okay. What's wrong?" She sobbed into his shoulder.

"I-I don't know. I just want our son to be s-safe," she cried.

Everyone looked at her, shocked.

Dean gingerly placed his hand on her stomach. "We're having a boy?"

"Yes, Dean, yes," Cas said, tears trickling down her face as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Dean hugged her back, overwhelmed by relief that she was safe.

Crowley cleared his throat, and the older Winchester glared at him. "What?"

"Maybe you should leave someone behind," he said, motioning to the dead angels.

Dean frowned. "Hmm... Gabriel, d'ya think you could take care of Cas while me an' Sam are gone?"

"Sure, why not," Gabe said, shrugging.

"We'll be back in about two days," he said to everyone. To Cas, he said, "Take care of our son."

================

"I'm officially bored," Gabe stated to no one in particular.

"Is that so?" Cas asked, a smile tugging at her lips.

"Yup. What are you even doing?"

"Reading about chimeras." Gabriel laughed.

"Pfft. Is this author one of those guys who thought I was Loki, or is it a modern guy describing an LSD trip?"

"It's neither. It's an ancient Greek story retold by a modern author."

"I was close," he said, grinning. "Can't we do something more fun?"

"Like what?" Cas looked up at him.

"I dunno. Something better than a summary of an LSD trip."

She laughed, a rare thing. "I already explained to you that it wasn't."

"So what? I'm bored."

Cas suddenly got this strange look on her face.

"Cas? Are you okay?" Gabe checked her. She seemed fine.

"No, I'm all right, it's just that your nephew is kicking."

"What does it feel like?" Gabe was semi-interested.

Before he could say anything, Cas began pulling his hand towards her stomach.

"Don't tell anyone about this," he said, looking her right in the eye.

"Of course."

Gabriel couldn't put into words what he felt beneath his hand. It felt like a little flutter to him. Like a butterfly was attacking the inside of Cas' belly, and on top of that, he felt energy. Grace.

"Whoa," was all he said.

She put his hand back. "Still bored?"

"Not necessarily," Gabe said, grinning.

"I think he recognizes you, Gabriel. He responds differently when it's Dean."

"Well then, he's a smart little guy. I'm going to go play poker with Crowley," he said, walking off.
