[ Y/N'S POV ]

Walking through Snowdin hadn't been as comfortable now that Sans had taken his jacket back, but the determination I felt made it possible to do so. It had been just a light snowfall when I'd started walking, but swiftly became a heavy, almost-blizzard like flurry as I progressed through the spot Papyrus had fought me in. The snowy, cheerful feel of the town was lost when I exited the blizzard of snow and entered a moist, stony area. Every inch of the cavern wall on my right seemed to be dripping wet. The damp atmosphere was increased by the river to my left that flowed along the trail I was on.

Farther up ahead, the river turned away from the path and I came up to the head of a waterfall. Suddenly perking up, I saw Monster Kid right beside it and quickly ran over to them. Lightly tapping their shoulder to get their attention, I was greeted by their usual toothy grin. Turning around to face me, their eyes lit up and they started to excitedly ask, "Yo! Are you sneaking out to see her, too?".

"Meet who?" I questioned, tilting my head to the side in question. "Undyne, duh! She's the coolest! I wanna be just like her when I grow up. . ." they said in awe. "Oh, well then, no. I was actually wondering if you'd seen Sans around here?" I asked, hopeful. "Huh? No, sorry bro. But this sentry station right here is actually his! So maybe he just took a break from his shift or something," they said, pointing to a sentry station, similar to the one I'd seen just outside the Ruins. "Ah, well thanks anyways. I'll see you later then," I responded, slightly disheartened. "Oh, and don't tell my parents I'm out here please. Ha ha," Monster Kid asked, a pleading grin on their face. "Hehe, of course!" I assured them with a silly smile.

And with this, I started along the path again, passing an orange monster, familiar-looking flower, and Sans' empty sentry station. I wanted to hurry along, as Monster Kid's words may have been correct and Sans could've stopped here before he went to wherever he was now. However, the big blue flower in the room was really intriguing me. It felt so familiar and nostalgic. It reminded me of home. A great wave of homesickness suddenly washed over me, but I knew better than to reflect on the surface whilst Sans was probably hurting. Bringing myself to move forward I exited the room but hurriedly came to a stop. Up against the slick wall sat a wooden sign and a box. Inspecting it further I found the sign read:

"This is a box.
You can put an item in or take an item out.
Why would you, though???
You can't use items when they're in the box!

Sincerely, a box hater."

The aggressive note left me surprised, as I was expecting the same 'box lover' from before to have written it. Brushing this away, I inspected what I had on me. In my shorts' pockets was just some monster candy and a wrapped up butterscotch pie. Deciding I was fine for now, I turned my attention to the large roadblock in front of me: a massive waterfall with water rushing quickly over the path and large rocks flying down into a seemingly endless abyss. Gulping, I turned my gaze to the thin wooden bridge that stood over this abyss that, mind you, had no rope or fence lining it for safety.

I took a minute to weigh my options before anxiously choosing to go through the rushing water, as the bridge didn't seem to lead anywhere and one of those peculiar flowers sat at its dead end. Also, heights were definitely not my favorite. I took a second to find an opening where the rocks didn't seem as likely to squish me into a pancake. Seeing one, I took a deep breath and ran as fast as I could through the water. It threatened to pull me into its current but I stayed strong and reached the other side, soaked in water from my knees down.

When I started up my stroll again, something seemed off and the cavern walls darkened in suspense. My body tensed up at this uneasy feeling and I approached a batch of tall grass. With no where else to go, I pushed through the first couple of stalks but stopped suddenly. A strange feeling was creeping up my back and I felt as though someone was watching me. The grass became still once again as I heard a familiar voice pipe up.
