A Soaring Love

Chapter six

Feawin awoke to the sound of this name being called from the top of the cliff. "Feawin!!" He recognizes that voice. It's the princess! She is probably coming by to thank me for checking on her last night! Feawin flew up to the top of the cliff "why good morn......" he was not able to get the rest out before the princess ripped into him.

"How dare you do what you did last night! I was perfectly safe you had no right to do that!!"

"I was just...."

"I don't care what you were doing Feawin! You got way too close! What if one of the other guards were to see you?! Huh? What would you do? My father would have to be notified and so would prince Oakley! You could be arrested or worse put to death! Your lucky it was just Azlowe that saw you!!"

"Why can't he report to the king?" Feawin asked. Wait why did I ask that that was quite foolish.

"Because he has to report to the person who requested I get him as my guard"

"Did your dad not do that?"

"No" Faelees anger turned to sadness "my mother chose Azlowe. She said he would be good for me. And she was not wrong"

"Oh I'm sor...."

Once again Faelee interrupted "I miss her so much!" Tears started running down her cheeks. "Not a day goes by that I don't think about her. She was my best friend she always knew what to say to make me smile. I just...I'm so lost without her. She would know how to stop my father from making me marry prince Oakley. He just wants me to marry him so we can merge the kingdoms!" He is so selfish!"

Feawin couldn't help himself he wrapped her in his strong arms. "I know princess I'm so sorry you have to marry him. I know he will treat you just as bad as your father did to your mother"

Faelee buried her bed into his strong chest. She could feel the scar on his chest up against her cheek. She could hear his heart racing. I don't want to leave. I feel so safe and so cared for. I want to stay like this forever she thought.

"Faelee!" That was Azlowes voice. He was searching for her.

She looked up at Feawin. "What if he finds us like this?"

Feawin shrugged "he knows you like me and that I like you."

Faelee gave him a strange look then realization made it's way across her face " you didn't leave last night you stayed and eaves dropped!" She exclaimed with a slight smile on her face.

" yes I did" Feawins face had a smile ok it too. Then he leaned closer to the fawns ear and whispered. "And Azlowe is correct I would kill Knaruku for you."

Faelees eyes filled with amazement and tears. "You would really do that? For me?!"

"Of course I would! I would never let him hurt you! And last night I heard his brother Kado talking about hurting you and I had to make sure you were ok!"

"So that's why you were spying on me!"

"Yes!"

"Princess!" Azlowe stumbled out of the trees. "Tree roots are vicious things they like to trip you up" he said wiping his brow. "We must go princess your father wants you to come to lunch with him"

"Okay" Faelee said as she followed Azlowe back to the castle.

Faelee and Azlowe made it back to the castle just in time.

"Ah, Faelee this is the king and queen of the Oakland's and this is their son prince Oakley." The king said gesturing to the prince. Oakley was a strikingly handsome young buck. His dark brown hair and hazel eyes made him look like a mystery character. He definitely was not Faelees type but what could she do she didn't have a say in this. But she would fight as hard as she could. "Now let's sit down and talk business." The king said gesturing to the chairs that sat around the table. "Gustavo bring us our first course please" the king ordered.

"As you wish your majesty" Gustavo bowed then left the room to get the food.

" now as I was saying" the king said to the king of Oakland forest. "I would like the wedding to be within the next season. It will be a very elegant celebration. We will have the finest wines and berries and salads. My kitchen staff will prepare everything. This union of the two forests should help with our Knaruku problem, and our food and soil problem too. And of course help with the issue with shipping goods from other forests. How do you like that idea kids"

"That sounds like a splendid idea your majesty" said the prince.

"Faelee?" The king looked at his daughter.

"I do not want to marry him father. Why do I have to? I will not be happy!"

"You will marry him if I say you will marry him!" Her father was getting angry.

"You would never be doing this if mother was here!"

"Your mother could not stop me! She isn't here so I don't have to worry about that!"

"You never cared about anyone but yourself you are a selfish selfish man and...." Her sentence was cut short by a slap in the face from the hand of her father.

"You will not disrespect me like that!"

Faelee looked at him with anger in her eyes, she got up from the table and ran out of the dinning hall. She ran down the main hall way and through the castle doors towards the town. She knew exactly where she was going. The only place that she felt at home.
