The Power of Winter 2 (A Jelsa Fanfic Sequel)

Chapter 43

                                                  Jack's P.o.V 

A year passes by quickly.  

We held a large funeral for Evelyn and Ben.  Practically the whole kingdom was there.  Soon after that, though, Anna and Kristoff became King and Queen.  Tooth and Bunny got married, and are expecting a baby soon.  Elsa and I also extended our family, bringing little Sean into the world.  

We kept an eye on Carrie through our duties.  She found a good man to be with.  He sticks by her side and helps her through everything.  We usually check in with her every couple of months.  Today, however, we're all together, waiting.

Today is the day that Evelyn and Ben can come down to visit.  

Elsa holds Sean in her arms, bouncing him as we wait, Carrie sits on the couch, biting her thumb, and I pace around.  

A slight wind blows through the room.  There's a flash, then they're there.

"Evelyn!" I breathe.

"Dad!  Mom!" she exclaims, running over to me.  She jumps into my arms and hugs me.  I spin her around.

"Oh, I've missed you." I tell her.

"Where is he?  Where's my little brother?" she asks, letting go.  I nod to Elsa.  She runs over and hugs her, then looks at Sean.

"Hello, there." she smiles.  He waves around his little arms.  She goes to hold his hand, but it passes right through her.  She gasps and steps back.  "He... He can't see me.  I was hoping he would."

"He doesn't know to believe yet." I say.

She shakes her head, "No, it's different in our case.  You don't have to believe in us to see us.  We're only real to you because you had a real connection with us before we died.  To everyone else, we're just ghosts.  I just thought, since we're siblings, he would see me."

"So... he won't know he has a sister?" Ben asks, walking over with his mother.

"Oh, he'll know.  We'll tell him what happened." Elsa states.

Evelyn smiles.  "Come on, we need to catch up on the past year."

We sit on the couches and talk.  Carrie tells everyone about her new boyfriend.  Ben tells her how happy he is that she found someone.  We tell everyone about Anna, Kristoff, Alex, Olaf, Maria, Sven, and the Guardians.  Then Evelyn and Ben tell us about their duties.

"Some of the people that come to us are so sad.  They all come in so quickly.  They have to float in the between world for a while, but thankfully, no time passes there." Ben explains.

"I spend so much time with each person that comes.  Some of the stories, they're heartbreaking." Evelyn agrees.  There's a knock on the door.

"Is she here?  Alex is finally cooperating." Anna asks.  She looks around and fins Evelyn.  "She is!!  Oh, Evelyn, I've missed you so much!!"  They hug each other, then Evelyn hugs Kristoff, then she looks hesitantly at Alex.

"Hey, Alex.  Do you remember me?" she greets.  He looks up at her face from Kristoff's arms and smiles.

"Here you can hold him, if you want." Kristoff offers.  She carefully takes Alex into her arms and smiles.

"He does remember me." she grins.

"Why wouldn't he remember the one who gave him his favorite carousel?" Anna notes.  Evelyn sits down again.  We talk with Anna and Kristoff for a bit, then Evelyn gets up and hands Alex to Anna.

"We've missed all of you so much.  This has been so wonderful, but..." she looks over as Ben gets up and stands next to her.  She takes his hand, "We have to go back now."

Elsa stands and walks over, she hugs both of them tightly, we all do the same.

                                                 Evelyn's P.o.V 

I step back with misty eyes and smile at everyone.  My family.

"We'll see you all next year." I smile.

"We'll be here." mom states.

"You'd better." I laugh.  

"Bye, mom." Ben says.

"I'll be waiting." his mom replies, stepping back.

I look over at Ben and squeeze his hand.  I close my eyes and transport us back to the afterlife.  When I open them again, I'm staring at the wall in my office.

"It felt like no time at all." he breathes.

"I know." I say.  I step in front of him and take both of his hands.  "I know it feels like we were not even there.  It's going to feel like that every time.  We just have to keep going, alright?  You know you can check on her every once and a while.  I know I'll be checking on my family a lot more now."

He looks at me and smiles, kissing my forehead.  "You always know what to say.  I love you, Eve."

"I love you too, Ben." I say, kissing him.  "Now, come on.  We've got to work again.  I hate leaving people to wait in the between world."

"Alright, I'll see you soon." he tells me.

By soon he means a couple weeks, but that really is soon in our world.  It's a constant job, time just flies by.  I pop the next person in my office.  A young boy sits in the chair, shaking.

"Wh- Where am I?  Who are you?" he asks.

"It's alright, calm down.  I'm Evelyn, I'm here for you.  Welcome to the afterlife."

I say that every time someone comes in.  

I help as many people as I can.  Sometimes I get breaks where there's no one for me.  I relax and think during that time, but it's usually short.  I check in on my parents and litter brother often.  

Ben and I tell the Guardians possible threats to the children if we find any.  We usually tell Manny about it, but sometimes he lets us tell them.  

Ben and I spend as much time together as we can, which is not much.  We watch over our parents together sometimes.  We watch them grow up.  

Ben's mother remarries, Sean and Alex run around causing all kinds of mischief.  We're both dreading the day that one of our loved ones comes to the afterlife.

No one has bothered my family since.
